A good place to stay when coming to New York City

Posted 25-May-2015
Pros: The accommodations were good and it was reasonably close to public transportation. We were able to park our car at the hotel.
Cons: There needs to be a fan in the bathroom. The mirror was always steamy after a shower.
Location: I'd say it took us about ten minutes to walk to the Path station in nearby Newport. It was a nice walk around a harbor.
My daughter and I stayed at Candlewood Suites five days while on a trip to New York City. I was very happy with the accommodations. It was so much nicer than staying in a traditional hotel. We had kitchen facilities, several chairs, a large desk, Wi-Fi, comfortable queen size bed, large TV, etc. While we did not use it, there was an exercise room with equipment. There was also a little convenience store with drinks, snacks, breakfast items, etc.

Convenient to New York City.

Even though purchased through Expedia, the room rate was acceptable - but no bargain. The facility was clean and close enough to the PATH train, but to charge for parking is kind of ridiculous on top of the already high price for a stay. I, personally, would not return.

Pleasantly surprised!

Posted 10-Apr-2015
The hotel staff was so nice and we were able to check in early so we could start our sight seeing! Glad to have secure parking for our vehicle! Very close to all modes of transportation and a mall with a food court! Our only problem was the Internet did not work during our stay. Also I would suggest a broom or small vacuum in each room for days with no service!

Visit Manhatten

Posted 08-Apr-2015
Pros: Comfort of the room and easy travel to Manhattan. It also has parking on site.
Cons: The room temperature control is not manageable and very noisy. We had to shut it off. Lucky for us the room temperature was comfortable without it.
Location: 20-30mins to Manhatten- WTC. Statue of Liberty
We stayed in Candlewood Suites because of its location. It is 5mins to PATH Exchange Place station and 12 to Newport. Exchange goes directly to WTC and Newport goes as far as 33 st. If we had to return back to the hotel in the middle of the day, it would be more reasonable to stay in a hotel on Manhattan but for spending the entire day in the city stay in this hotel was not a problem. The room was perfectly clean. It has everything in the kitchenette to make a breakfast or a meal. Very comfortable bed, bathroom, desk, very good WI-FI. It has parking . We were very satisfied with this hotel. Right now there is a construction next to the hotel and if your room faces the construction site it is very noisy starting from as early as 6am. Also on one side of the hotel there is a tram ("light rail"). It makes a chime sound approaching and departing the stop next to the hotel and also its own sound is pretty loud. One may consider asking for a room on the other side of the building.

Candlewood Suites

Good access to Manhattan and 30 minutes drive from the port and industrial estates for work. Situated ideally in the middle of the two. Rooms spacious and good catering facilities, but not many restaurants to eat at apart from Chili's round the corner. For business, more than acceptable but I wouldn't want to go on holiday here.
