Near to New York City, staff could smile more!!

Posted 08-Dec-2014
Pros: room size, shuttle bus to mall/supermarket, cleanliness and amenities in room (got my own kitchen which saved money)
Cons: staff could be more greeting/interactive with my trip to new york. asking how my day was etc....
Location: great location, 15min train journey to central new york city, a mall not too far away. 45mins train to airport, 20min cab to airport.
This hotel is a great location, along the seafront so a short walk and you can see the manhattan skyline and a 10minute walk to subway stations connecting you to World Trade centre and time square. They run a shuttle bus service that will take you to the nearest mall/supermarket to get some shopping in, but no transfer option between airport and hotel which is a shame. A cab will set you back $50+ or if you research it beforehand, a relatively short train ride of about 45mins will get you between the hotel and airport for about $12. I would definitely do this next time. The staff were helpful when needed, but if they had helped with a smile on their face then this would have been a perfect hotel, the gesture of a smile goes a loooooong way, for instance when walking into a hotel reception, you expect the staff there to greet you back, but not there. Regularly walking by without acknowledgment from the staff. Bit disappointing but not the end of the world. Overall, very good hotel and would recommend to anyone wanting to visit new york but not wanting to pay ridiculously expensive time square prices.

Great hotel, easy to get to the city

Posted 24-Nov-2014
Pros: Location, proximity to the city Spacious room Affordable
Cons: Add a pool!
Location: 5mins to the Newport Mall 8mins to Hoboken Close to "PATH" trains to NYC
We had a wonderful stay at Candlewood. Our room overlooked the NYC skyline and the Harbor. It felt like we were staying at a home away from home. We had a full kitchen, which was helpful for a quick breakfast before we headed to the city or to heat up a late night snack upon returning. The hotel offers a courtesy shuttle to the 'path' train, however it is no more then a ten minute walk and then appox 10-15 mins on the path to the city. The staff were friendly, polite, and helpful with any questions we had. We would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to save some money and enjoy some quiet while still being quite close to the hustle and bustle of the city.

Great place to stay visiting NYC!

Posted 18-Nov-2014
Pros: Great location, quiet area, parking
Location: Its about a block away from the river, so you'll get a great view of the city at all times of the day or night.
This is my second stay at Candlewood and Jersey City and I am quite pleased with my experience. The hotel is a quick 8-10 minute walk to the PATH station and ferry to get to NYC (5 dollars round trip on the ferry) and the restaurants in the vicinity are all great places to stop and have a bite. The area is nice, the staff is friendly and very helpful if you have questions, and the option for parking is excellent if you're driving in from out of town. Didn't have enough time to utilize the kitchenette, but definitely will the next trip! If you're a student or traveling on business and you'd like a quiet place to unwind, I would definitely recommend!

Ruth at the front desk was amazing. She was alone with few customers to be taken care of. She took care of everything smoothly and professionally. In a business she is definetly a keeper. Great job and great hotel.

Great Location, easy access to Manhattan via Path

Posted 04-Nov-2014 on Hotels.com
The location is excellent, just to 5 minutes to Exchange Place Path metro station, and it just takes 5 minutes to the World Trade Center. The neighborhood is very safe, the hotel is 300 meters from the Hudson riverside, the landscape of Manhattan is awesome from this place. The only issue is that the hotel doesn't have the cleaning room service as a regular service, we most to request this as an additional service.
