“Poor Experience”

The reception clerk was arguing with a customer on the phone when we arrived. She seemed to be put out because she was busy. The motel corridors and rooms had an unpleasant smell. It gave you the impression it was a work crew rooming house. We will not be staying there again.

“Too far from Jasper”

Hinton sells itself as being Hinton-Jasper - but it is 75 kms and with the speed restrictions in the National Park, takes one hour each way. Hotel basis but OK, but if you are wanting to holiday in or near Jasper, pay more and stay in Jasper itself. The journey to and from Hinton was time wasting, inconvenient and tiring, and unnecessary if you stay in Jasper itself. Very tempted to bail out, despite being paid for, and find somewhere else as it was basic and very inconvenient and Hinton is a ghastly place. Two to three times the price staying in Japser would be preferable. The one black spot on our otherwise terrific holiday.

“Nonsmoking Room was a Very Smoking Room! Stinky, Stinky, and Stinky”

Booked a Nonsmoking Room only to get a smoking room with no other rooms available. When I say a smoking room, I mean a smoking room! There were 3, yes 3, ashtrays. The place reaked. We will not be booking a room there again. Hinton has a Holiday Inn Express (HIE) that looks new, we have enjoyed our stays at similar HIE hotels in other Alberta locations. We will choose that when we next visit Hinton.

“Great value”

Very clean, basic, hotel. Good value. Very accomodating to requests. Good basic breakfast available as well. Recommended. The only negative was the hot tub was down for repairs.

“Catering to the oil industry”

Appears to be another busy oil industry hotel. The room carpets were stained and one of our 2 room smelled badly of B.O. despite the windows being left open before our arrival. New mattresses were comfortable and the overall condition of the hotel would be 4/5 if they had more staff to help with the upkeep. Breakfast was pretty basic but ok. I had to go find someone to give me a wet dishcloth to wipe the super sticky table. No napkins in site.

“Fire alarm”

We were right beside the workout room and the TV was playing very loudly at night and woke us up early in the morning which was even more unimpressive because the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and when the alarm finally went off no one came to inform us that we could be assured to safely return to our rooms .So we finally walked to the office to find out if it was safe. Not Impressed with the lack if information.

Area recommendations
We did enjoy the rest of our experience in Jasper

“Good hotel, Can go back there”

Nice hotel Neat and clean, cooperative reception guy, only problem we face was wireless internet connaction which was mentioned down due to repaire work in the city. Rest all was fine.
