“Good Hotel but a little bit far from City Center”

“Stockholm keeper!”

The Welcome Hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was incredible and included eggs and bacon as well as all the usual European standards. It was a great way to start the day and offset the need to eat on the very expensive economy. The train station was a 5 minute walk and a 15 minute ride to downtown Stockholm. The room wan't huge, but when you're on vacation, who spends much time in your hotel room anyway. The Internet was free and fast. The only downside is the cost of the cab from the airport. With that said, you could take a combination of buses and trains, but probably won't end up being any cheaper. Overall, can't imagine finding a better place to stay in Stockholm.

“on a tight budget only”

very good price as Stockholm is extremely expensive, 15 min by train to city centre; customer service non-existent, manager couldn't care less if customers were happy as the hotel was always full; very basic and small but clean, beds were surprisingly comfortable; the main problem was a bad smell in the bathromm which seemed to be an overall issue in this hotel and nobody tried to attend to; on the positive - fantastic breakfast so would definitely recommend bed and breakfast; food in restaurant was good value for money and quite fine - much cheaper than in the city, beware of buying drinks as that will bump your bill up big time. would stay again though if couldn't afford a better place. Would recommend buying tea/coffee, fruit, pastries and sandwiches in local Co-ops - huge savings comparing to other places.

“From Shreveport, LA”

That was the best breakfast I've ever had...anywhere! Not kidding! The neighborhood was nice to walk/run around in and was right next door to the T-bana station (although it is a "B" route so might cost a little more).

“Good alternative to Stockholm's expensive hotels”

Location in Jarfälla is just outside Stockholm but it's right next to Barkarby station with a 15-minute journey time by train to Central Station (15-min frequency on weekdays until 20:00 and 30-min frequency at other times). Breakfast is good - choice of cereals, bread, cold meat and even separate baskets for soft and hard boiled eggs. Other meals/snacks/coffee available from the restaurant at reasonable prices. Internet terminal available for people without laptops.

Area recommendations
All areas of Stockholm are fantastic. Medborgsplatsen is a good place to look for restaurants/pubs.
Getting there
To save costs, don't use the Arlanda Express or the Upptåg train from the airport. Take bus 583 to Märsta station and get on the local train from there. Buy a 1-day/3-day/7-day public transport ticket - you need to obtain the SL access card from Pressbyrän Extra shop in the terminal.

“Good hotel but watch out for the promises made”

I got the room at areally good rate, for which I was glad. The train takes around 20 minutes to Barkarby station from the central station and the hotel is probably less than 5 minutes walk from the station and easy to find. Sometimes the trains only come every 30 minutes so plan ahead. I did think that the photos on the website are not representative of the room I had. The single room (no 116) was very small. There was also a statement saying that you can have an extra guest, which turned out to be impossible for my room as I did not have an extra bed or couch. Thus a false promise - if this is important to you enquire in advance. The free wi-fi was very helpful and the speed quite good, since I would have been on roaming broadband otherwise. Breakfast was good - warm scrambled eggs and bacon and a selection of bread, cheeses, meat (ham etc.), pastries and some fruit. It was the same selection every day which isn't a problem for me. The swimming pool is outside and was never open while I was there. The sauna on the 3rd floor is apparently only open between 15:00 and 22:00 so I never got a chance to use it. Overall a good choice in a very expensive city.

“Welcome Hotel- it most certainly is”

Highly recommend this hotel right next to train line 10-15 mins from Stockholm Central Station. Excellent value for money. Hotel extremely clean and comfortable, good selection of quality food for breakfast. Bistro menu in the evening limited but food excellent and reasonable by comparison to eating in Stockholm. Staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Area recommendations
Don't miss the Ice Bar at Nordic Sea Hotel a little expensive but a great experience! The Vasa Museum is a must see don't miss the film show when you go in it will allow you a greater understanding of the whole exhibition.

“Welcome Hotel, Barkaby, Stockholm”

Welcome Hotel was is convenient for the pendeltag (commuter train 15 mins to Stockholm centre) is very welcoming, clean and friendly.

“Good location only...”

Everything was fine. Hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the train stop which take you to the city center in 20mins. The only thing is that the room is a bit small for 2 and I had to sleep in a rollon bed which was a bit uncomfortable.
