Stayed here for 4 nights and had an amazing time. The hotel staff was really nice and friendly as well as helpful with any needs we had. We did an ATV tour and a scuba diving day and spent 2 days at the hotel, which was great laying by the pools with beautiful scenery and a small beach section by the restaurants. The restaurants all serve amazingly delicious dishes.
"Garden villa across the street from private beach"
Beautiful garden villa across the street from one of the best beaches on the island. There are lots of amenities at the resort, i.e. restaurants, bars, grocery store, gelato shop, boutiques, free Wi-Fi, etc. Nightlife at the bars on weekends especially at Zanibar on Saturday nights. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi in the rooms wasn't the greatest; it was nearly impossible to contact. We had better luck on the private beach. The afternoon/evening staff at the gate was very friendly. Having a kitchenette came is very handy when we wanted to stay in for the evening. Loved the indoor/outdoor living room with the cool island breeze.

Second time we've stayed here. The apartments are comfortable but need some up-keeping as time is showing its passage on apartment interiors. For the price, mattress should be better as well as pillows.
This is a placed focused more on lengthy stays, as house keeping is done every 4 days.
Comes with a well furnished kitchen including dishwasher, very convenient.
Overall I would recommend and will stay again, but wish the renovated the apartment interiors.

We took a 9 nights vacation to Curacao from cold Chicago for Easter. We researched numerous hotels and finally decided on La Maya for several reasons. (1) they are apartments which gives a family more living space and option to cook and eat at home, (2) Kids friendly (3) situated in a very nice and quiet area of Curacao (4) Nice views (5) proximity to beaches and other attractions.
From the time we arrived, late in the evening, we felt at home. Marcel, welcomed us and gave us a very comprehensive tour of the apartment, which by the way, is awesome.
The next morning, we met Annemarie, Marcel's wife and co-owner and she was very helpful in organizing our rental car. Marcel offered to drive us to the rental car place which we accepted. It was "personal touch service" which you would not get from any chain hotels no matter how upmarket they are.
During our stay, both Marcel and Annemarie, were at hand to make sure that our stay at La Maya was most enjoyable.
The surroundings are beautiful. Beautiful view over the water from your apartment, great pool where we spent a lot of time in and great set up with all the lounge/beach chairs, canopies etc.
My wife, our 11 year old daughter and myself were very impressed and would dare say it was the best vacation we ever had. Marcel and Annemarie at La Maya played a big part in making our vacation the best ever.
I would recommend La Maya anytime and we are already organizing our next visit for the same time next year.
Totally enjoyed our 2 week stay at the Morena. Very clean, great location and in a beautiful setting. Staff extremely helpful and friendly !! Apartment was not huge but sufficient for the two of us, had 2 bedrooms and a large deck area with table, couches and chairs. We were also pleased to have a rack on the deck for drying towels, etc. Within walking distance to beach, restaurants and supermarket. First week we were without a car, second with. Local bus stops right in front of hotel as well as a van that will take you shopping to a larger supermarket. Bus rides were very minimal (couple Canadian dollars) and van ride to market free. Parking for our rental was free as well. We had the option of making our own meals or to eat out. Did both. The food at the Resort’s Fuego Restaurant/bar was great (all you can eat Wok night was superb) and the staff, especially Mironda and Indira, terrific. Also definitely family friendly. When we used the pool facilities, appreciated the fact that it was never crowded or that we needed to “save” a spot ahead of time. It’s not a “fancy” resort but more quaint, which we find much more appealing. Definitely great value and would highly recommend staying here.
Jan Thiel, a residential and resort area, rests on a large open bay with calm waters on the southern coast of Curacao. A tiny paradise, the white sand beaches lined with palm trees and clear water are perfect for diving and snorkeling. Hiking and biking are also popular in this area, and depending on the trail you will adventure through salt pans, the lagoon, and rocky beaches.
