My friend and I go up to Victoria every Memorial Day weekend and this year due to budget we stayed at the Royal Scott and it was well worth it. We got a one bedroom suite and I swear it was larger than my first apartment. Really comfortable, half a block away from the Parliament Building and a really quick walk to the Washington Ferry terminal.
Great hotel. Nice views. Was given a balcony upgrade upon check in. I stayed in a suite room which was very large. Amenities were useful. Very clean. Bedding and pillows made for a good nights' slumber. Good location, close to everything downtown.
This downtown Victoria hotel is a block from Parliament Buildings and 2 blocks from the Royal BC Museum and the Undersea …More
The hotel staff were extremely friendly. I rated overall a 3/5 stars as the carpet in our room had stains all over and the bathroom was outdated. They need to remodel the bathrooms, and the carpet was super hard as I needed to wear my shoes the entire time. The view we had was excellent in fact of the other misc stuff. I could definitely see myself staying here again, but not at 200-sh a night. I think it's overvalued for what this hotel is. And the fact that only 1/2 elevator were working. They need to get on it! Fix your elevators. Thanks!
It was conveniently right next to where the Clipper comes in (literally up the hill) - that was convenient at arrival and departure but did require a short walk around otherwise since the downtown area was ~ .5 miles away.
Dated rooms (older fixtures/furniture, some chipped paint) but generally clean and sleep quality was decent. Room smelled faintly of a pet (dog?) - we did see a couple with their dog so this hotel may be pet friendly?
James Bay is the oldest neighborhood in Victoria and is full of colonial charm, sprinkled with grand Victorian houses and perfectly manicured private gardens. It is located close to downtown on the south side of the harbor and offers gems such as Fisherman's Wharf marina, Beacon Hill Park, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The Royal British Columbia Museum is a must-see for history buffs.
