Aside from a fire alarm pull in the night, our stay was good. The place has some old charm to it and it in un-pretentious. There is a pool and hot tub, game room, laundry room and billiards room. I would go again.
Never stayed here before & was interested in trying the North Shore. LOVED the location, so handy, GREAT market downstairs. VERY quiet after about 7pm though so not for those seeking a nightlife. The sea bus ran often & was a great link to the downtown core. Lonsdale Quay is fantastic and a bit of a break from the hubbub of downtown Vancouver & very well situated if you are heading to Whistler or any points NORTH. Hotel is spacious & clean. However, our room wasn't ready at check in (not a huge deal - it was 230pm). However, when I returned at 1030pm to check in, we sat at the front desk & were completely ignored while two people chatted in the back room. One person finally came out, picked up the phone and started a conversation with the person on the phone without even acknowledging we were standing there. On our final day, we asked for a late check out (1230pm) as I had an important audition to tape. We CLEARLY told the front desk we would check out ASAP but needed to get the tape done - they seemed confused/flustered about this. Then, even though the housekeeping people were busy with other rooms (and NOWHERE near ours) the front desk staff started phoning AT NOON (and therefore interrupting and forcing a restart of the taping process) and panicking that they had guests coming in two hours which was odd because my room hadn't been ready when I tried to check in at 230pm. They had plenty of time as we were gone by 1230pm & would have been gone earlier had they not called!
This old hotel goes out of its way to maintain it's historic charm. It has cool antiqe furniture and funky patterned carpets over creaky floors. It is a short walk outside the hustle and bussel of the touristy waterfront. You pass by older Victorian homes on the walk which makes it all that much more quaint. The room was clean and comfortable and had the old style hot and cold ribbing shower. Ice cold lemon water or coffee in the lobby added a nice touch.

We stayed for 1 night and wished for more. Our suite was beautiful - just what we needed for our family of 5 adults. Check-in went smoothly - very friendly staff. The lobby was spotless and welcoming. We could walk everywhere which made it very convenient. Just wish we could have stayed longer!

"Wonderfully located & great retreat from the day!"
The Embassy was an older hotel that has been renovated. The room was close to most of the local attractions and only 1 block from the ocean front but was also a spacious and a wonderful retreat from our busy days of exploring Victoria.
If you are traveling to Victoria by ferry and want to stay somewhere within walking distance, this is a great choice. It's literally right across the street. We all loved the proximity to the downtown attractions as well. The hotel is older, but has a lot of charm. For the price, we thought the location made up for the dated decor, etc. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly! Also...free parking and breakfast!
"Beautiful inn with water on 3 sides close to all. "
I arrived early, at 9:15 am and thought I would have to drop my bags and wander around till check in but my room was ready. I was very impressed and it made my first day so easy. I had an in room spa treatment that was fabulous. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I ate at Aura twice and had great food. The servers were wonderful and I learned about Victoria made gin (delicious!) and bought some to take home at the local distillery.
Overall it was a great trip and I will definitely return.
We really liked the hotel, the pool is awesome and the kids loved it, but the pool is outdoor so we were lucky it was really hot! The beds are incredibly comfortable. We had a room with a view to the garden and pool and you can also see a little bit of the ocean. Breakfast was not awesome, but overall we lived staying there,
A great hotel in Victoria, BC with an excellent harbor location, offering a delicious complimentary full breakfast …More
James Bay is the oldest neighborhood in Victoria and is full of colonial charm, sprinkled with grand Victorian houses and perfectly manicured private gardens. It is located close to downtown on the south side of the harbor and offers gems such as Fisherman's Wharf marina, Beacon Hill Park, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The Royal British Columbia Museum is a must-see for history buffs.
