Nice location within walking distance of Victoria

Posted 24-Mar-2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Rooms and bathrooms in the Laurel Wing are old and outdated. A motel would have been better value for money.
Location: Close to Victoria harbour, downtown and nice walks.
Our experience with the food and service was good. We booked a room with a King size bed and were told we could only have a King size if we were prepared to pay extra and upgrade. Also the duvet cover was very thin and we had to keep the room heat turned up to stay warm. Our room was across from a service room where staff were going in and out so was noisy at times. The condition of the room furnishings and bathroom were outdated and did not warrant a 4 star hotel.

30th Anniversary

Posted 23-Mar-2015
Pros: Above but also had a nice lounge to grab coffee or tea in the morning or just sit and read a book. There was also a TV there.
Cons: Renting a movie was a bit awkward as we had to put in our CC info to buy the movie instead of it just being billed to the room.
Location: IMAX theatre, Government Building, Chinatown, Fort Street, Craigdarroch Castle, The Stickey Wicket, waterfront park and waterfront walk.
Opted for the bay view room w King bed. Very spacious, well appointed and quiet. Lovely view of the bay. Excellent food in the AURA restaurant (only ate breakfast however). Very close to Victoria Clipper dock and we walked about 1 block along the water to the entrance to the hotel.

Nice view of Harbour

Posted 22-Mar-2015
A pleasant quiet night. The restaurant is great. Good food, good prices. Downtown is a 10 minute walk along the harbour. A very nice walk. This is my new first choice when staying in Victoria.

Pros: Location
Cons: More friendly staff.
Location: Location was okay and located close to downtown and the harbour.
The hotel was fine as such however the atmosphere was somewhat strained. It just didn't seem like a happy place for staff or travellers. It was satisfactory but not as nice as the Grand Pacific.

Modern, comfortable, good views, nice size room.

Posted 13-Mar-2015
Pros: Clean, comfortable, nicely located, good views, good restaurant.
Cons: The fitness center is minimal and needs to be redone.
Friendly staff, very clean, comfortable bed. Small fridge in the room a plus. Fitness center is not very good. Too small and insufficient equipment.

Cons: Maintenance of room furnishings could be improved. The writing desk had chips out of it
Very nice hotel in a great location on the water. Close to downtown with all its bustle and attractions, but itself very quiet. Very competent and helpful staff. Rooms facing west overlook a marina, rooms facing east the city and inner harbor. The Erickson wing have large guestrooms with the best bathrooms we've ever seen, all in marble. Impeccable design and attention to detail gives this part of the hotel an almost serene elegance.

Great view if you get a room that faces harbor

Posted 10-Mar-2015
Pros: Harbor view
Cons: One front desk staff member was not very accommodating. Had to really push to get what we wanted(and what we thought we had reserved)
The room given to us was not like the internet pictures. To get a full harbor view we had to ask to change to a different room, which was much better. Its all about the view here. Other than that the hotel is good but not exceptional.

Thank you for your comments Gary, we are so pleased that we were able to find the right view for your stay. The room that we had originally reserved for you, overlooked Victoria's outer harbour. We will note of your guest profile that you prefer views of the inner harbour.

Hi poppie 618, we are sorry to learn that noise from the hall & room next door disturbed you. Please let us know if you experience this on future stays, as we can certainly ask guests to be quiet on your behalf.

Perfect Room, Great Location

Posted 06-Mar-2015
Pros: The room, the view, the location and the staff.
Cons: Pillows!
Location: It is a perfect location. Just a wee way off the noisier centre but right on the water and close enough to everything to walk.
Friends had recommended this hotel so we decided to book it for our anniversary. We've stayed in many of the downtown Victoria hotels and this may be the best one yet. We had a lovely room--the most beautiful bathroom ever! Hotel staff recommended a couple of lovely walks and a super restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We took the water ferry over to the other side for another walk in the sunshine. The only thing that wasn't perfect were the pillows; next time we will bring our own. We will return for sure.
