Great hotel/great location

Posted 28-Mar-2015
The hotel is at a great location, with the parliament building nearby. The night view (the bay and the building) is grand. The suite was well maintained and the staff members are friendly.

Lovely hotel but could use a thorough cleaning!

Posted 24-Mar-2015
Pros: The hotel is beautiful and the view is breathtaking. It is close to everything. We walked everywhere we went, even Chinatown and Craigdarroch Castle.
Cons: Cleanliness was definitely an issue for us. The ice bucket had dried coffee stains inside it and the duvets on the beds were covered in small stains.
Location: It overlooks the Inner Harbour, it's walking distance to museums, the parliament buildings, the Empress Hotel, downtown Victoria and even Chinatown.
We got to the hotel and checked in with no problem. The staff was friendly and helpful. When we got to our room it looked tidy and smelled clean, but as we were getting ready to go out for the evening we noticed a couple of things that needed improvement. We took the lid off the ice bucket to fill it and found dried coffee stains and glitter inside. I went to sit on the bed and noticed that the duvets on both beds were covered with all sorts of small stains that could have been coffee, drinks or anything else. I know that I would never sleep under something that dirty at home. The carpets could have used a steam cleaning as well. When you stay in a beautiful hotel like this you expect your room to be at least as clean as you keep your own home. A bit disappointing but otherwise a very nice hotel. I think we would stay again.

Great Hotel!

Posted 23-Mar-2015
Pros: Proximity to just everything. Great, very comfortable beds.
Cons: It seems a little tired in some areas. Towels for the pool..they were small and old. Spots on the carpets in the room.
Location: Great walking city. Fabulous restaurants near by. Great shopping.
Close to eveything! We walked everywhere. Decided not to bring our car over from the mainland. Took the bus from the ferry to the bus depot downtown. Walked two blocks to the hotel. I had called over to see about upgrading our room. I decided against it...but to our utmost surprise the hotel did this for us anyway at no extra cost. We had a lovely room overlooking the harbour and government buildings. We enjoyed a spa treatment from Quinn at the Sora Spa on the hotels premises. It was excellent. She is an excellent masseuse! Great Hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

A perfect stay for a special occasion.

Posted 20-Mar-2015
Pros: The hotel has a touch of luxury to it, friendly staff, a great pool and gym, friendly staff, ducks out front(!), and very comfortable beds.
Location: Centrally located by the inner harbour, within easy walking distance to many local attractions, including the BC Museum & IMAX and Miniature World.
The few times we visit Victoria, we always love staying at the Grand Pacific. Great central location, comfortable rooms, pool facilities, and no hassle underground parking. There is a fee for parking, but it offered two full days, and we could keep our car parked even after we checked out, up until 6pm - a real bonus. There is also a convenient in-house cafe, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. We unexpectedly were upgraded to a suite with a harbour view, and when the clerk realised it was my daughter's birthday, with our room key, she handed her an envelope marked "Happy Birthday". An extra special touch that was truly appreciated. Booking ahead on line also gave us a great room rate. Highly recommended.

Pros: See above
Location: This hotel is in the heart of everything with easy walking to musems, IMAX, shopping and good restaurants.
This hotel is very good with excellent location. We were updated to a suite and that was most enjoyable. The staff were so helpful and cheerful. We enjoyed dinning in the dinning room as well as the bar. There was entertainment in the bar on Friday and Saturday evening. I would highly recommend this hotel and would consider staying there another time. Thank You and relay my thanks to the hotel staff.

Lots of Character but...

Posted 12-Mar-2015
It's a character hotel but very very small rooms, lousy foam pillows and plugs that don't work, charges for parking. Upside It has very nice character, good food and very good staff.

A little taste of heaven.

Posted 10-Mar-2015
Pros: Staff, room, service, decor, lounge, view!!
Cons: Electronic charger on radio is now out-of-date due to the different sizes of ports now. I don't recall seeing a USB port for charging.
Location: We were visiting family nearby, however, we were able to park downtown and walk to stores, restaurants, art store, and craft store.
Very friendly staff in all aspects of the hotel from valet, concierge, front desk and lounge. Arrived to find we had been upgraded to a harbour view room, "because we like to do that for our guests if we can." WOW! Our luggage was brought up to our room and the gentleman adjusted the room thermostat to ensure the room temperature was comfortable. The 'Do not disturb' is actually a button on the thermostat. Cool. The room was luxurious. The beds did not fit in our suitcases unfortunately, so we had to leave those clouds behind. Best sleep ever. Quiet. Darkening curtains. Upon our arrival we decided to stay one more night. Even though, they were heavily booked, the young lady at the front desk did everything to try and keep us in the same room. But alas we needed to move at checkout time. The second room was just as spectacular as the first, just lacking the breathtaking view of the harbour. Still a superb room.
