"location is quite good for you to explore the city"
Staff are quite annoying. They will knock on your door asking what you want hoping for tips. Room are not really clean as it appear to be. But at least hot water is available. For those who love to have a few beer but do not wish to burn their wallet , there is liquor store just down stair selling cheap beer. A large bottle of Kingfisher cost only 75rupee. A few good eating place around the corner and also a cineman nearby if you wish to see a hindi film. The other good thing is the hotel is located in an alley off the main road. So it is not that noisy.
Great facilities and staff. I have stayed there 3 times now and will be back. It is a great, comfortable haven in a very troubled city. The location is brilliant as well... so close to the New Markets etc, and central to everything else.

This city-center hotel is located two km (less than two miles) from the Victoria Memorial. Guestrooms offer satellite TVs …More
The hotel is across the street from New Market/Simpark Mall and just one block from Sudder Street. (Note: Taxi driver may not know Lindsay St., but they know New Market and Sudder.) Room is average, reasonably comfortable. No internet offered in hotel at all, but there are nearby cafes. Housekeeping obliging but not efficient (I had to ask for a hand towel and more TP). Breakfast is very good--scrambled eggs (Indian style = spiced) potato curry, cereal, fruit. Lift is overburdened but my room was on second floor so not too bad. Luggage storage seemed reasonably secure. Rooftop restaurant a rare treat in Calcutta, reasonably priced.
All of the staff were so helpful and friendly, beautifully appointed rooms and the location is perfect. The staff and management even went out of their way to retrieve my lost luggage in KL. Definitely would stay there again!
What a lovely new hotel with very friendly staff. I stayed for a week and didn't want to come back as everything was available just outside including restaurants, money exchange shops (with very good rates), bars, nightclubs, clothes shops, shoe shops, etc. The room itself was nice and big for a standard, (not that I minded) flat screen TV on the wall and the best thing was my bed was next to the window overlooking the whole of Newmarket which I loved looking out every night. Didn't have any breakfast as I slept late every day as the bed was very cosy and the air conditioning was adjustable in the room. I would advise anyone going to Kolkata to try this hotel as great value for money and deserves two thumbs up! I look forward to going back to this hotel soon.
I'd absolutely recommend this hotel if you want to stay on Sudder st. The rooms are clean, relatively large and the bathrooms are beautiful.
It is set back just a bit from the street so noise was never an issue. I also felt 100% safe, which was important to me as a woman traveling alone.
There is a restaurant attached to the hotel which not only provides a nice place to eat but also to relax and meet fellow travelers.
All of the staff that I interacted with with kind and helpful.
There is free wifi. The signal was not super strong in my room, but I was always able to get online, it just maybe took a bit for things to load.
If you've never been Kolkata can be a little overwhelming at first. Bawa Walson was a nice anchor to set out from and return to everyday.
