“Find a different place to stay”

During my stay, this resort hotel was used to house 350 members of the Federal Police. I spent 8 days surrounded by police in full uniforms packing 12 gauge shotguns and fully automatic rifles. Depending on which hotel staff person I talked with...they were there for either 1 month, or 3. As the members of the police force were not permitted to use the pool or waterpark while on assignment, the hotel shut down the waterpark and poolside bar. The restaurant shut down normal service and provided only a bare-bones buffet tailored to the police force. In addition to that...the room was dirty, all but 1 electrical outlet was busted, the airconditional was grossly inadequate. All in all...terrible.

Area recommendations

For the most absolutely gorgeous facilities, stay at Loma Delmar. It's away from the beach...but phenomenal. Other than that, I was able to walk through a number of resorts directly on the beach. They were all neet, clean, and offered nice pools, great amenities, and were within walking distance of Ixtapa business areas.

Traveller's tip

Although I typically try to enjoy the local foods when I travel and avoid eating items I can get easily at home, I would highly recommend Emilio's Pizza. Super thin crust, brick oven backed pizza smothered with fresh ingredients. Very odd to think that with all of the great mexican seafood that i enjoyed in my 8 days in Ixtapa...it's the pizza that left the greatest impression (especially since I rarely eat pizza back home)
