“Just ok”
The grounds and facilities were beautiful, but the hotel staff was not very nice to Americans. Great hotel for young children!
“Not Fancy-Just Right!”
Excellent location, service and cleanliness. Terrific service in dining areas and on beach. Food prepared very well, a nice variety and presentation. Would return in a minute!
“Location and sleep only”
Acceptable beds/room ... "baleario" pool, not recommended
“Ixtapa 2011”
Really enjoyed my stayed at this hotel, the food was delicious, the activities were fun and the people really friendly.
“Good Place at a Good Price”
I just want to recognize an employee named Leslie. She was extremely courteous and helpful through out my stay at the Fontan Hotel. She works at the reception and I appreciated all the ways in which she helped me. For instance, she offered me her personal laptop for me to use since there is no computer room at the hotel. With this action she went the extra mile on customer service!!! Thank you much!
“Excellent hotel, all in all.”
Had a slight problem when check-in as to what European Plan means, to us that means Coffee, Juice, Cruisons etc.. to the hotel that meant no breakfast, this was sorted out the following Monday, they allowed us to have breakfast "Complementary" of the hotel. On Monday all was sorted out to our advantage. On Saturdays and Sundays, the hotel is opened to the locals and is FULL with CHILDREN in the pool, come Monday the atmosphere goes back to normal, i.e . calm. The music was always very loud and we finally had to speak to the manager, again all was corrected. Definetely recommend this hotel for its location as well as the Excellent service they provide.
“trip”
everything was good except the food ..
“We will never return”
The whole experience was a nightmare. Our first room was right over a loudspeaker with extremely obnoxious music playing constantly. Everything in the room was soaking wet. When we were changed to another room it was slightly better but everything was damp: towels, floors, bedspreads, etc. The halls were kept at a freezing level. The restaurant "service" was non-existent and the food, very poor quality. The chairs at the pool were arranged in long rows without access; when we moved one chair to be able to sit down, a staff person immediately moved it back. Next time, we'll spend a little more and stay at another hotel.
“Good quality/price”
Good location.
“Was okay for a budget hotel”
Likes: Location - the beach is beautiful and well taken care of by a busy group of men the go up and down the beach everyday collecting lazy tourists garbage. Hotel - is a little dated in the rooms. Could use new beds and pillows. The air conditioner was actually too cold for me. Other than that the rooms were cleaned well everyday. Food - I can't comment to much on the food because I was sick the first 3 days....had the flu. You could always find something to eat but we ate most suppers out because it was convienent. Pool - sat by the pool most days. The music was the most annoying thing. They could try to switch it up more just so it wouldn't be so aggravating. Bars - I was sick so didn't drink much. The usual premixed tropical drinks. They were okay. All in all I really did like Ixtapa. Would like to come back again someday. You really can't beat the weather. It was perfect everyday and hardly any bugs. Would stay at a different place, just because that's what I like to do.
