“Turkey for Thanksgiving”

We loved staying at this hotel. Our room had a view towards the water and was very comfortable. The tram ran right outside the hotel (which was loud the first night but we didn't hear it after that). This was actually convenient because we followed the tram tracks to get to major tourist points--10 minute walk to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace. My children loved the variety available at breakfast, and my husband was grateful for western capuccino. I would recomend this hotel, and i would stay there again.

Area recommendations
We stayed in the Sultanhamet area because this is where the three main tourist attractions are--the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Topkapi Palace. However, we were able to take taxis to other places, such as the Chora Church and a children's park called Miniaturk (lots of models of famous buildings throughout Turkey and Istanbul).
Getting around
I usually take public transportation when I travel (bus, metro/subway, tram) but in Istanbul the taxis were cheaper than buying bus tickets for four people.
Family-friendly activities
There is a park called Miniaturk that my children enjoyed. This park has lots of models of buildings (and a few of natural rock formations) that are in Istanbul and other parts of Turkey. Your ticket activates an audioguide that will tell you about the building on your language. My children enjoyed the playground the most!

“Really central location”

We stayed here for four nights. The hotel was reasonably comfortable and very clean, but the best thing about it was the location. You could walk easily to all the main attractions. There was also wonderful views over Istanbul from the terrace restaurant where we had breakfast.

Area recommendations
The Old City, Sultanhamet, which contains all the main sites of interest - Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace (disappointing). The whole city has a very different feel from other European cities and once you get used to the noise, crowds and traffic is very exciting. I would particularly recommend the underground Cistern - very atmospheric.

“Very handy location.”

A very handily located hotel, only five minutes walk from Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi Palace and the Golden Horn. Lovely views from roof top terrace and the food good, although breakfast not very adventurous. The bed was hard but otherwise the room was comfortable and very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay there again for convenience. The facilities at the hotel are limited (eg. lounge area, bar, no outside area).

“Good hotel but some person?”

The Seres Hotel is well positioned to transit stations and major Istanbul attraction within short walk. Nice penthouse restaurant with reasonable brakfast. Would recommend for short stay in Istanbul.

Area recommendations
Galata on the other side of Golden Horn has a feel and energy of great european city, beautiful art deco and turn of XIX century architecture with numerous christian churches!

“Uncomfortable Stay”

We booked the hotel via Expedia for 2 adults and 2 children, however on our arrival at the hotel we were only given a triple room, which had 2 single beds and a folding bed. When we questioned this with the hotel reception they advised us that the triple room was the largest they had and could not do anything further to help us. As a result we had a very uncomfortable stay at the hotel as the accomodation provided was totally inadequate. We intend to question Expedia as to why when we paid for 4 people we were only provided accomodation for 3 people??? The room was also very small and cramped. On the day we were due to return we were advised that breakfast would be prepared earlier than usual for us as we had to depart for the airport early. However, to our astonishment when we arrived at the hotel restaurant we found the chef sleeping on a row of chairs! Who eventually told us there was no breakfast available. The only plus point about the hotel is its location as it is situated in the heart of all the major attractions in Istanbul. The hotel was also clean and tidy. The staff were very unhelpful and unfriendly and they made it difficult for us to approach them with any questions we had.

“Great location, very comfortable room”

I was expecting a budget hotel but Seres surprised me. The room and the bath were super clean, and very comfortable and roomy for the price (I had put my 2 bags, hung my clothes, and set up 2 laptops for work and the room still felt roomy). Helpful staff too. The breakfast was OK but not very good, but that's to be expected. The tramway station is a 2-minute walk, making most of Istanbul very accessible from your current location. I would stay here again on my next Istanbul trip. Highly recommended.

Area recommendations
Sultanahmet and surroundings (Sirkeci, Gulhane). Also Taksim looked pretty good as a place to stay in.

“Suited us just fine!”

The hotel is situated between the Sirkeci and the Gulhane tram stops (approx 150m and 100m respectively). The staff at reception and in the restaurant were all polite and helpful. We were offered free use of a safebox and PC. We had a twin-bed room on the 5th floor with a view of other walls and windows but without any street noise. The restaurant was on the rooftop (7th+1 floor) with a great view of the rooftops, harbour, New Mosque, the Bosphorous bridge - and the restoration of the building next door. The food at breakfast was varied in choice, plentiful, filling and tastey. Our bedroom was pokey and I needed to step away from my bedside to let my wife get to the wardrobe. The bathroom was adequately sized, the shower great and no shortage of hot water or toiletries. All in all, we were very pleased with the hotel. In terms of its location, I can't see it bettered for being in walking distance or with tram/ferry links to all sites (Spice Mkt,Gd bazaar, Blue & New Mosques,Topkapi, Haga sophia), restaurants and even a small cheap supermarket (15m away & open late).
