“Nice Hotel - Great Location”

The hotel has the best location is Sultanahmet and is very close to all the tourist sites. The staff is very courteous and professional. The rooms are at the low end of 4 class hotels, especially the bathrooms are small and not user-friendly. The breakfast is good but needs more variety in hot foods. Overall, the hotel is highly recommended for a short stay to see the historic sites.

“Excellent Hotel”

The Ottoman Hotel Imperial is located across a narrow coblestone street from the Hagia Sophia. We had a sultan category room that looked onto the Hagia Sophia which is lighted at night. Topkapi Palace was a two minute walk to the left out of the hotel and the Blue Mosque was five minutes to the right. For those who want to visit all of the sites in the old city it's an ideal location. It's also very well maintained and very comfortable - a solid four star hotel by American standards. Breakfast was included in the rate. It was served in a glass enclosed room on the second floor off the back of the hotel with views of rooftops, old buildings and a minaret or two. The breakfast items were mostly the same each day but the choices were quite extensive so we found plenty to like. The staff were very helpful with directions, booking airport transport and tickets to evening performances. They offered to arrange daytrips for us but we preferred to travel independently. Once we figured out the tram lines (with two stops very near the hotel) we were able to get around town fairly easily. If I return to Istanbul I would definitely consider staying at the hotel again. It was always nice to return to it at the end of a busy day sightseeing.

Area recommendations
The sites in the old city are fascinating - well worth a few days to explore.

“Location and Comfort essential in Istanbul - this has got both”

Hotel was almost perfect!! if t was not foe the dry blood stain on my duvet on the first night. it took me about 30 mins to get a replacement after i went down and told them the wrong room number. thought they may have used their initiative and find the room i was staying in after i checked in only a few hours before, but no, i had to go again. That was the only issue, everything else was spot on, They had a good variety on offer for breakfast although we did not eat at the restaurant as similar food was a lot cheaper only round the corner. It is a hotel I would definitely book again.

Area recommendations
Sultanhamnet....walk everywhere, its awesome! Also, take bus tour of the city with blue Bospourous Tours bus outside Hagia Sophia and NOT the red buses. Bospourous tours have a evening tour which goes up a hill where you can see all of Istanbul as the sun goes down. And make sure you are up and early for Topkapi Palace as it gets full quick, and femals need to make sure legs shoulders and heads are covered so get a scarf on your journeys.
Getting around
Walk. If you need a taxi, ask them how much to your destination before hand. DO NOT GET INTO A METERED TAXI, the drivers will drive you around clocking up the total.
Must see
Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque etc
Dining
Some really good food on offer on the main strip, but everything contains a shed load of salt
Events and shows
Look for Turista on the main strip can organise almost anything/everything and its cheaper most of the time. Bospourous cruise and Whirling Dervishes are awesome

“Be careful which room you book!”

Generally speaking the Ottoman Hotel Imperial is a very good small hotel; however some of the rooms on Level 600 ( #608 for instance) are oddly situated insofar as they are actually below grade and face into the wall of an adjoining building. It is like staying in a dim basement apartment. I highly recommend the Mathab Restaurant in the hotel

“WOW.......The Ottoman Hotel Imperial is Fantastic!!! Can't wait to go back!!”

The Ottoman Hotel Imperial is an amazing hotel in Istanbul. The location is perfect situated at the front of the St. Sofia in the heart of Sultanhamet. The staff was very helpful with any and all questions and made you feel very welcome to their amazing city. The property is very well maintained and the restaurant and breakfast were outstanding. I highly recommend this hotel in Istanbul!!

“great location and great stay”

We only had a couple of days in Istanbul and I wanted a nice hotel with a central location in Sultanahmet, close to all the major sites, and this filled the bill perfectly. We had a great room with a small balcony that looked out on the Aja Sofia and very short walks to the bazaar, Cistern, Blue Mosque and Topkapi. They put out a nice breakfast each day. Room sizes appear to vary, so inquire what you're going to be getting. We were more than pleased, but we may have been in the biggest and nicest room in the hotel for all we know. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and the room was spotless. It's a boutique hotel, and definitely not a chain, but a real Turkish experience, which we enjoyed. A great choice if you want to be right in the middle of Sultanahmet.

Sultanahmet is where we spent all our time and I would definitely recommend it.

“Very impressed”

We initially had a room overlooking the tram line at the back of the hotel which was a bit noisy - but we requested a transfer which they made the next day, to an extremely nice (and quiet!) room in the main hotel. The service was excellent, and the staff were extremely helpful in booking restaurants, taxis, and confirming flights etc.. Given this, and the location of the hotel, we would definitely recommend it.

“perfect location!”

this hotel couldn't better situated in the historical district of istanbul in front of aya sofia (sorry if there is a spelling mistake) and 2 steps from the blue mosque. staff was friendly and food was good at the restaurant, especially the ''rosewater mastic'' dessert. internet cafe's connection was on and off, which was annoying to communicate back home however. Overall good experience!
