My room wasn’t clean but then they let me check in. The toilet had been used and was very dirty. The taxi driver they got for me robbed me charged my card 530 lira yet they had agreed on 400. He refused to give me back my money and drove away

It was overall acceptable The room are very small and not enough space for moving The staff personnel are not much warm The quality of food are good but not much of variety , there is limited choices Good place in sultanahmet , basically for shoppIngs .

Excellent hotel, close to historic places
People who work at the hotel are very friendly. We enjoyed breakfast, the restaurant is clean and has excellent selection of food.

i will Always stay in Buyuk Keban
I don't think I can stay in any hotel in Istanbul than Buyuk Keban, the metainance of the hotel when I was there in 2014 is still the same. The Receptionist and Concierge are always ready to help you. Neighbourhood is safe you can walk anytime at Night. The main reason why I liked Buyuk Keban is because of the Neatness and the Environment no odour like most hotel in Istanbul if is not 4 or 5 Star.

Perfect for a family
I loved everything about this hotel. If you are traveling with 2 kids like us, it was perfect. One bedroom with twin beds for the kids and a separate bedroom with a queen bed for a couple. Quite street in a safe area.

Happy with hotel
Staff service was always friendly and helpful. We arrived on an early morning flight, and although we were 6 hours earlier than check-in time they gave us the room we wanted and invited us to have breakfast. Rooms are small but adequate. The daily mopping of the room floor (uncarpeted) could have been better, otherwise the room was cleaned and towels changed daily. We enjoyed the salads and breads breakfast. Location is only 15 min walk from an easy Metro ride from the airport, and virtually on the tram route through the old town. We have used this hotel before, and would stay there again.

Average hotel close to the old city
It is a small hotel , good value for money. Some rooms are very noisy but i changed mine to a much quieter one. Breakfast is average. Staff are far away from the best .

Clean, large room, hot breakfast, near the sites
Hotel Buyuk Keban was a very clean and modern hotel. The rooms were decent sized. The breakfast was decent offering an assortment of items including scrambled eggs and pancakes which is rare in Europe. The hotel is located within a 10-15 min walk to the bazaar and Metro that will bring you to/from the IST airport. The major mosques/palace are within a 30 min walk or 4 tram stops away (which is located at the bottom of the hill, maybe 5 mins). Overall the stay was enjoyable.

Good location for a hotel, very near Sultanamet.
Small rooms but well cleaned everyday. Some guests were a bit noisy during our stay and doors were keep shutting and opening every now and again till past midnight. I just wish people should observe silence after at least 10:30 pm. Most of occupants go out during the day to see many attractions so a bit courtesy is appreciated. Breakfast is also very well served, but I wish the staff would smile a bit and greet their customers. It Would be really nice if someone says "good morning" and will be replied back. It would be nice if the "No Smoking" policy will be respected, our room was near the exit stairs and it seems some occupants or staff goes to smoke there, the smell of the smoke comes to our room thru the door gap. I really like the location of the hotel,thou not really near the main tourist attractions but a walking distance to the tram, metro stations..many surrounding restaurants. Traffic, a bit chaotic thou, It seems there is no respect given to traffic lights, no enough parking. Noticed drivers just reversing anywhere and everywhere. Too much cigarette butts on the streets,would have been nice if trash can be used and well provided.. And if staff or customers smokes by the door, the main door should be closed to ensure that other people who are in the lobby specially the children will at least be protected. Overall, our stay was good..Istanbul is a very beautiful and vibrant city we hope to see it again sometime..

Based on your review, we started training for our waiters, took extreme measures towards smoking, also started changing the locks on the doors in order to reduce the noise plus, we removed the chairs located at the hallways in order to avoid other guests to sit, and talk there, which was the primary reason of the noise occurred at night. Nice but hard to find.
Very nice hotel but get very specific directions before you get there or you may find yourself going in circles. The breakfast was awesome. So much to chose from.

Nice & clean hotel close to tram station (Aksaray)
Easy check-in nice room but small, breakfast was good.The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is 7 min walking to aksray train stop , and from there is 3 mintues to grand bazar station and 4 mintues.to sultan Ahmed area, hotel close to every things, only the Air conditions was not cold for the last 2days because they have Central AC and they turn it off because of the City ordinance as their staff said.

Decent Hotel, nothing special
The hotel room was clean and the cleaners were brilliant, although they didn't communicate in English well. The location of the hotel was decent, next door to a masjid and very close to the Sehzade mosque. There was a massage chair on every floor (cost 1TL for 4 mins) which was quite nice. The tram station was a 5 minute walk away and served all the main attractions of the old city. The hotel itself is very basic and the spa was closed the two times I wanted to use it so that was quite dissapointing, the reason given was that the guy who runs it wasn't there. Overall it served as a decent cheap hotel which was a good base to visit Istanbul from, but nothing special.

great location and superior breakfast
it was really good and nice stay. the breakfast was great, the services and room cleanliness were awesome. the only things is the lifts, there were 2 small lifts and always one of them is not working and the other takes only 3 persons. there were always many people waiting the lifts or going by stairs sometimes because the capacity of the lifts is not compatible with the amount of people in the hotel.

Extremely poor experience
This hotel has no credibility. They over charged me $30 more than my non refundable booking price. My credit card company has been trying to get hold of them for a long time and still not resolved. My stay was in April.

Hannan, the manager, was very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. Hotel rooms were nice and clean. Great breakfast. Shower was amazing, didn't want to get out of it. It was in a good location, 5 minute walk to a tram and train. Single girls: there is a lot of hooting, hollering, uncomfortable stares, and impolite words thrown at you in the nearby streets. Overall, we had a great stay.

Near shopping center and lots of nice&nice restura
The problem we had cost our family lots of money. The phone in the room did not work, we could' receive calls from abroad which force us to make expensive call ourselves out side the hotel. Our family from abroad had to call us on our mobiles this cost us and them lots of money. Other times had to calls to the reception in order to talk to us.

In addition to that, we have a "pay phone" located at the lobby next to the reception, plus a cell-phone store under the hotel which rents phone to make calls abroad. Ideal for people not spending time in hotels
It was ok if you do not intend to spend time in your hotel, only for sleeping and washing. Bathroom was leaking, staff were ok. Pick up from airport was very bad as they did not have our names displayed - caught the name of the hotel and that's how we managed to arrive. Last day they had not charged us fully for the pick up from the airport and demanded money! Breakfast was so. It was clean, but not under the beds. Staff would demand tips. Location was 3 miles from the blue mosque. Once again ideal for those who do not wish to spend time in hotel. No iron provided in room, but a pay as you go can be found in hall way. No kettle, but glasses and tea and auger are provided in the room.

Great hotel, good location in old city with good links to public transport. Hotel staff were great along with good clean room and plenty of dishes for breakfast. Well done for stay at Hotel

Perfect location, safe, wonderful staff
This was my first trip to Istanbul and I can honestly say that Hotel Buyuk Keban made it such a memorable trip. The hotel is located in a safe area which was the number one concern for me and my friends. As a group of 3 girls, safety was very important to us. The staff was super helpful. From the moment we got to the hotel, Hanan took the time to sit down with us and explain the map of the old city and places to see, visit, stay away, eat, etc. He was phenomenal. Very helpful, as was everyone at the hotel. Breakfast was included in our stay and each day they had the best breakfast. Fresh and so much variety. We were very close to the tramvay which is helpful if you want to get around the city. Housekeeping every morning made it so nice and welcoming to come back to the room after a full day of sightseeing and exploring the city. When I go back to Istanbul, I WILL DEFINITELY STAY at HOTEL BUYUK KEBAN!

Short distance to all must see sights!
Entire hotel staff was very attentive and friendly. Upon arrival, the room air conditioner was making a noise and before we even set our bags down the repairman was literally at our door and made it right. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. If ever we have the opportunity to return to Istanbul, we will definitely return to Hotel Buyuk Keban!

(+ ) good location ,very polite and helpfull staff ,nice breakfast ,free wifi in the room and in the lobby ( - ) very small rooms and too much noise everywhere. In the beginning they gave me a room in the same floor with the reception but was imposible to stay because of noise of the bar etc , very easily changed to a new room in 4th floor but also was hearing the people next rooms speaking or making noise

Clean, friendly hotel.
The hotel is a little way from the main tourist areas in sultanahmet, but is close to the tram and metro or you can walk it in about 25 mins. The hotel was very clean with a good breakfast and in a quiet and safe location. The rooms are a little small and for some reason they still had the heating on in April so the room was quite hot. We did ask them to turn it off which they eventually did at the end of the stay. Staff are otherwise friendly and helpful.

We try to keep the AC on till the end of April since it might be a little cool on April from time to time, but your concern is kindly noted. On the other hand, our hotel is 4 stops away (10minutes) to St.Sophia and Blue Mosque and 20minutes on foot if you would like to walk. From what I read, I understood that your stay was good overall but had an issue regarding the breakfast. About the breakfast, we serve both traditional and international dishes at our breakfast including 6 hot dishes, such as; scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, Turkish patties, mushroom and much more… We also have 6 different types of breads. Plus, pancakes, jams and olive selections. In addition to that, we have soup and fruits as well. You can always check our official website to see the current version of our breakfast menu. I hope that you accommodate at our hotel next time you are in Istanbul so that we can make it up to you and we are pretty confident that we can. close to all transportation & shops
We are very happy with the stay-- the staffs were very helpful--especially "the orientation of the city". It did help us to know more about the city before we started our adventure. The hotel is easy to locate and reach, just 10 minutes off the main street. Getting on the tram you can go to all must-see sights within short periods.I'm delighted to find out the Metro station is close by, it takes us directly to the airport within 30 minutes---avoided all the traffic problems. I love the breakfast. For sure I will suggest the other travellers to stay here.
