Great location, exceptional staff.

Posted 25-Apr-2015
Pros: Location, helpfulness/friendliness, rooms, rooftop terrace, included breakfast & teatime.
This hotel is in a great location, convenient to the Sultanahmet area. The rooms are nicely decorated, comfortable and spotless. Some rooms are a little noisy, especially on the ground floor near the reception, but nothing that kept us up at night. The complimentary breakfast is delicious, with a wide variety and many healthy options. The complimentary teatime snacks and hot beverages are nice too, and we even found a mini chocolate fondue service set up with fresh strawberries for dipping one day in our bedroom! But aside from all this, the staff were exceptionally helpful and welcoming, and in a way that made us feel genuinely appreciated. We got a friendly greeting every time we passed by the front desk, whether on our way out or just passing on our way to the eating area. Can't praise the staff enough.

Best Hotel Ever

Posted 24-Apr-2015
Pros: The staff is amazing. Great recommendations for restaurants, tours and general directions.
Location: Central to most tourist attractions (5 to 10 min walk). Many restaurants nearby.
Hotel Amira is located very close to most tourist attractions in the old city. We found the hotel very clean and the bed comfortable. They had a great breakfast and afternoon tea. The best and most outstanding thing at Hotel Amira is the staff always friendly and helpful.

Amira a gem in Sultanahmet

Posted 22-Apr-2015
Pros: Customer service, panoramic rooftop views and value for the cost.
Location: Visiting the Blue and Sofia Mosques, Topkapi Palace, Cistern, Turkish Bath, Grand Bazar and the abundant choices of Turkish food.
I had to change hotels from the Asia to European side of Istanbul for the last three days of my business trip to be closer to the airport. Traffic is very bad especially during the commute hours and I didn't want to chance missing my flight back to the US. I was able to get there within 30 minutes because of the location. The other reviews of the Amira were all very high. I can see why now. Even before the check in date I dropped by to find out where the hotel was located in the Sultanahmet area since I had been walking the Sofia and Blue Mosque already. AJ and Sue at the front desk warmly greeted me, confirmed my reservation for the next day, and gave me an excellent dinner recommendation. This type of friendly and professional service was demonstrated by all of the service staff from Housekeeping, Dining and Door Man. To set you off fully fed for the start of your day. You must try the variety of Turkish breakfast buffet items in their intimate dining room. This meal is included in the price of your room. What a surprising bonus. One of the best features of the Amira is a very relaxing rooftop deck seating area with panoramic views of the ocean and sunset to finish a full day of tours. They will bring you drinks and appetizers for this "Turkish Delight" of a happy hour. All of the tourist attractions are within a 15-20 minute walk.

Location: Great for Sultanahmet but noisy at night.
Pleasant hotel with freindly staff. Good location for Hagia Sophia and Sultanhamet but there was a lot of street noise at night which kept us awake the first night, either though we resorted to earplugs! Hotel decor was a bit corporate and dated: we could have been anywhere

A Five Star Experience at Hotel Amira

Posted 17-Apr-2015
Pros: The personal attention from the staff made our stay delightful. Their restaurant recommendations were outstanding. They made airport transfer easy.
Location: The Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace were nearby. Great park behind the palace - loads of flowers and a heron rookery in the tree tops.
We enjoyed a fantastic four day stay at the Hotel Amira in early April. AJ and the rest of the front desk staff could not have been more helpful, offering daily advice on food and sightseeing. Our room was very clean and comfortable, with a magical balcony view of the city. The morning breakfast buffet provided a fresh variety of treats each morning - fruits, meats, breads, yogurt, jams and Turkish savory dishes. Although we don't usually break for afternoon tea, the daily selection of cakes and canapés at 4:45PM allowed us to fortify ourselves after a long day of touring Istanbul. We highly recommend this hotel for travelers who are new to Turkey and to Istanbul. The staff treated us as honored guests, facilitating our transition into the bustle of the city. We felt very fortunate to have chosen the Hotel Amira as our base.

Comfortabel room, central and friendly personal

Posted 16-Apr-2015
Pros: No effort was to hard for the reception when it came to helpfull attitude.
Cons: Please be more carefull about the information given to the guests, informations was unreliable and in some cases designed to personal economic gains.
Location: It is a historic interesting area, but touristic. Even the most carefully selected restaurants are serving uninspired food. People are freindly.
On our late arrival we were told that no nearby restaurants were open. But free transport could be arranged to a place not so far away. The Money automat inside the hotel did not Work and I was told to walk a few meters op the street to a bank automat. The trip was a quater of an hour each way an just outside the hotel was several open restaurants. We bought plastic coupons for the trams and boats in the hotel - only they did only Work for the trams and we ended up with several useless plastic coins. A restaurant on the way to the airport was recommended, though, and it was the best experience ín town !

A jewel in the crown of Old Town

Posted 09-Apr-2015
Pros: The service, the location, the amenities and the food are all top notch. Watch the sunset from the top deck - fabulous!
Cons: If your room is above the 5th floor you will need to take stairs because the lift only goes to 5.
Location: Everything! It's in the shadow of the Blue Mosque, which is right by the Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace - the Old Town is at your doorstep!
I have not experienced better service in a hotel anywhere! The facilities are top notch, the location is exceedingly convenient to the major attractions of Old a Town, but the hotel staff - they take customer service to another level. From the moment we arrived until the minute we left the staff were unfailingly attentive, polite and prompt. It's like the service you get in an exclusive resort or when traveling first class. Whatever you need, whenever you need it. They go out of their way to make sure you lack for nothing. I understand why the hotel is rated so highly. It is completely deserved.

Pros: スタッフはいつもニコニコしていて、皆さんとても親切でした。
Cons: バスルームの配管から変な匂いがする時が時々あった。 時間帯によってはネットがつながらなかった。
Location:

Prima hotel, gastvrij personeel op goede locatie.

Posted 06-Apr-2015
We werden zeer gastvrij onthaald.

Excellent family-run hotel

Posted 30-Mar-2015
Pros: Undoubtedly the calibre and knowledge of the staff make it very easy to recommend. Cleanliness. Location. 24 hour front desk cover. Always welcoming.
Cons: Smaller pillows - purely a personal choice!! I did not think to ask about this whilst we were there.
Location: Easy walking distance to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace - also a bazaar. The Grand Bazaar a little further, a 20 minute walk.
Made very welcome by all staff. Very helpful brief induction by Ufuk (front desk) on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who all spoke excellent English. Prior to arrival we had requested various tours (found details on Amira's website) The hotel staff's recommendations for places to eat were faultless - all reasonably priced for good quality and tasty Turkish food. They were even able to arrange courtesy cars for some venues. Central location made easy access to required sites.
