“Great little hotel near all the sights”

This was a nice, clean hotel with very courteous staff. The breakfast buffet was nice and we had a great view from the terrace. Our room was small but clean and had everything we needed. My husband works out and we booked this hotel since it offered a small workout facility. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a basic hotel that is clean and near enough to the center of the city to walk but off the beaten path so it's in also in a quieter area.

“I will come back again”

I would definitely recommend this hotel, just one remark; the closest tram stop is Gulhane not Sirkechi.

“i will never go back”

the location is so bad, all was written about this hotel is fake; the location is just in front of a parking area was awful view, i wonder where is that wonderfull garden view i saw on the web site...nothing was true...the room was sooo small, lots of noise at the early morning and the stuff is not friendly at ALL. the breakfast was very poor. i will never ever think of staying there again in my life.

“terrible service”

The location was poor and the taxi could not find the hotel without asking for directions, The room was spartan and the TV did not work. In addition, the air conditioner was weak and very noisy. When they tried to fix it, they made the problem worse. Finally, we needed to leave for the airport at 5:30 AM and prepaid a taxi thru the hotel and it did not show, increasing our stress level 10-fold

“Gulhane is Great”

The hotel is in a perfect locale for those wanting to see the Sultanahmet neighborhood. 2 minutes to tram station, 5 minutes to the sprawling and beautiful Gulhane Park, which can be viewed from the rooftop terrace at breakfast. 10 minutes' pleasant walk to Eminonu to catch a ferry. Staff was courteous and helpful, except the breakfast crew, who insisted on playing very loud rap music on the big-screen TV. When we asked to change the channel, they only muted the sound. Sea gulls will greet you at breakfast time as you see the magnificent views of Sultanahmet and the Bosphorous. Buffet breakfast yummy, but the coffee machine was really lacking (instant Nescafe but not even tasty). Only complaint re: the rooms was a leaky shower and fridge that did not cool, but the bathroom was kept very clean and beds and bedding were very comfy. We have four children and they were quite happy at this hotel. Truly an excellent location.

Getting around
Purchase an "Akbil" button at several kiosks that advertise "Akbil." Add credit to it, and you can travel on the ferries, buses, and trams for 1.5 TL per passenger. Taxis can be affordable, but the public transportation is impossible to beat!
Dining
We loved, for a quick bite, Simit Sarayi, with a great array of sandwiches and filled breads. For a delicious and affordable hot meal, the Kuru Fasuliye restaurant (there are 2) in Sirkeci can't be beat. Yummy appetizers and wonderful kebaps, too.

“Great Istanbul Hotel”

A small hotel in a great location 5 mins walk from all the major sites. The room was good every thing worked. The buffet breakfast was excellent large selection in an open air roof top dining area. Good wifi reception with a PC in the lobby for those who do not want to carry a laptop all over the place. The staff were incredibly helpful organising taxis to the business meetings we had.

“The perfect place :)”

The hotel was really good in terms of location room cleanliness and service. the hotel is one minute walk from the metro station that you can take from and to the hotel. It also was in the heart of Istanbul's best attractions everything is close to the hotel. the neighborhood was safe and quiet at night and really busy during the day as all tourist go there and shop :) I enjoyed being there and hopefully i am planning to visit Istanbul again and definitely I will choose the same hotel.

Getting there
take the metro from the airport to Zeytunpurun station then take another metro to Sirkeci station. the hotel is exactly 1 minute walk. the metro trip will cost you 1.5TL for about 30 min however if you take a taxi it might reach 50 or 60 TL for about 20 min. It was my first trip to Istanbul and I was not familiar with the town but i could get to the hotel easily by metro. Just make sure that you have the name and address of the hotel written on a piece of paper so you can ask people for directions ( most of them do not speak English but they could help me when they read the address )

“A GREAT PLACE TO STAY!”

We had a great time at The Gulhane Park hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone going to Istanbul. The staff were great and slightly eccentric! (but in a very nice way) helpfully pushing us up the stairs after a long day out sightseeing! The hotel is very conveniently located in a side street near all the attractions The view from the hotel overlooked a car park and a rather shabby area which was being redeveloped but if you get the lift up to the terrace there are some pretty good views over the city. Room was clean and comfortable although we got single beds instead of a double (i think my wife was secretly pleased) and the aircon wasn't working which made the room a bit hot.....minor gripes though as everything else really was excellent. To summarise you get an awful lot for the price at this hotel and we strongly recommend it to anyone on a break in Istanbul. When out and about be wary of the man who drops his shoe shine brush and "doesn't notice"... its a scam...keep walking...!

Hotel is well situated for all of Istanbul's attractions.
Getting around
We booked our transfer from the airport in advance with Backpackers Travel. A nice Mercedes whisked us to and from our hotel and whilst slightly more expensive than a taxi it was a lot less hassle and worry!

“Most definately returning”

We had such a great time. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The room was big ( there was 3 of us), very clean and tidy. The restaurant was good, but with so many restaurants in the area we ate out a lot. A lot of the sights were all in walking distance of the hotel which was great. We have stayed in a lot of hotels and this was one of the best. Would definately make a return visit.

Area recommendations
Sirkeci, Sultanhamet. A large majority of the sights are in this area and it is so easy to walk around. It is right on the waterfront, and is just a fabulous spot to wake in up
