“Not a bad little place”

Don't be put off by the fact that Expedia have rated this as a two-star hotel. For basic requirements, the Erbil a decent hotel. My room came with all the same mod-cons that some of the three and even four star hotels I've stayed at came with. There was a double bed, a private bathroom, a television (jn Turkish only, mind), and continental breakfast all included in the price. The location couldn't be much better either. Only five minutes away from the mosques in Sultanahmet and the ferry terminal in Eminönü as well as Sirkeci Station. For what I expected, I can't think of any major drawbacks to this hotel. The variety of the breakfast was very limited, an extra plug socket in my room would have been useful, and Sirkeci isn't a particularly nice part of Istanbul at night, but that's about it really.

Area recommendations

İstiklal Caddesi in Beyoğlu (near Taksim Square) is good for nightlife and shopping, and I'd also recommend a visit to the promenade at Üsküdar (on the Asian side) in the early evening, where the sunset on the Bosphorus is irresistible.

“Hotel Erbil, Istanbul”

Hotel ligt centraal t.o.v. historische gebouwen, Grand Bazaar etc. Personeel vriendelijk en attent. Kamer (602) was redelijk, deze kamer had nog uitzicht veel andere niet. Lag veel stof op nachtkastje (dit heeft 8 dagen gelegen) en een lang vergeten lipstick tussen nachtkastje en muur. Om verrassingen te voorkomen: maar niet onder het bed gekeken. Badkamer kan wel een opknapbeurt gebruiken - sanitair wel schoon. Uitgebreid ontbijt met uitzicht op de Bosporus.

“Das Hotel ist einfach aber zweckmäßig mit Klimaanlage und Kühlschrank sowie einem kostenlosen Safe”

Das Hotel liegt im Zentrum der Altstadt und man hat so nur ca. 10-15 min Fußweg zu den wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten. Direkt vor dem Hotel befindet sich einen Fußgängerzone mit vielen Straßenrestaurants.Es ist einfach ausgestattet und sauber. Im Zimmer befindet sich eine Klimaanlage mit Fernbedienung und ein Kühlschrank. Im großzügigen Eingangsbereich gibt es einen kostenlos nutzbaren Hotelsafe. Highlight dieses Hotels ist der Frühstücksraum in der 6.Etage. Von hier aus hat man einen herrlichen Blick über den Bosporus und das Goldenen Horn. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig. Größtes Manko am Hotel ist die unmittelbare Lage an einer Baustelle für die neue U-Bahn. Hier wird jede Nacht , auch am Wochenende, mit Baggern und schweren Lkw gearbeitet. Einige Zimmer haben ein Fenster zu einem Lichtschacht. Unser Deluxe-Zimmer hatte ein Fenster zur Straßenseite mit den Restaurants und der Baustelle.

- Hotel ist sehr zentral gelegen - Servicepersonal kompetent, z.B. Airport-Transfer Hotel => Airport, kurzfristige Hamam-Buchung, Zimmerverlegung nach 1 Tag organisiert Achtung: - sich ein Zimmer nach außen geben lassen; ich hatte den ersten Tag Zimmer zum Mini-Innenhof - das Zimmer war tagsüber stockdüster - Frühstück: Minimum-Standard - täglich das Gleiche
