Family trip to Istanbul

Posted 17-Feb-2015
We had two adjoining rooms which were prefect for our family. The rooms were older but comfortable. The bathroom could have used a little better lighting. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the location was great. Did not look anything like the picture!

Excellent location and charming decor

Posted 02-Jan-2015
Pros: Location, decor, staff.
Cons: Hundreds of TV channels, but only 2 in English (1 news + 1 music). It would be helpful to have a english channels such as CNN, NBC.
Location: Most tours will pick up and drop you off at the hotel. Some require you to meet in the Blue Mosque garden area which is at about 100 steps from hotel.
Excellent location right next to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia and the T1 tram line 'Sultanahmet' station. Easy tram ride to grand bazaar, spice bazaar, Bosphorus. Charming decor outside and inside. The hotel is a converted residential building. It feels like a bed-breakfast with real hardwood floors, window treatments, wooden door panels, antique brass finished door knobs, plants placed outside on the window stilts. Updated/modern bathrooms. Great turkish breakfast, hot egg varieties, and excellent selection of bread, great tasting coffee. Very attentive staff. English speaking. The hotel can arrange airport transfers as well as all the local tours, dinner cruises with one day advance notice. One unusual thing is old school room key, with brass finish attached to a brass antique keychain with room number stamped on it. (So don't forget to lock the door once you are outside or inside the room by turning the key since that is the deadbolt.) Safe location. Excellent Turkish restaurant next door with patio seating. We enjoyed a patio dinner even when it was 1C and raining outside ,thanks to the patio covers and heaters. Lots of souvenir shops nearby. One thing to note, the restaurant on the property only serves breakfast and can serve coffee, milk all day, but for room service meals, they will order food from outside restaurants and bring those to you. Did not use room service, but I'd not worry unless on a dietary restriction.

Centralissimo, con panorama eccezionale

Posted 01-Jan-2015

uneventful but not great...

Posted 26-Nov-2014
Pros: - position - VERY close to Sultanahmet Sq (and, thus, important touristic objectives) - T1 tram is very good for getting around - peaceful, quiet
Cons: - newer furniture and linens - better breakfast spred - better english for ALL the staff, not just some
Location: walking distance: Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi, lots of other museums (Archeology,Islamic Arts, Science and Inventions,Mosaic)
The location is great if your the visiting type - close to lots of museums and enough restaurants or cafes in which to spend a nice, quiet evening nearby. If you're looking for something a little more wild, Taksim would probably be a better fit. The hotel itself isn't terrible, it's just not great. More like a generous 3 stars than its 4 star rating and pricing...

Super Hotel für Städtereise

Posted 25-Nov-2014
