We stayed for 3 days and upon arrival we were greeted by Mr Kutay Berk and shows us the room next day Mr Kutay gave us walking tour of surrounding places and also gave us driving tour with very reasonable prices he is very knowledgeable trustworthy and kind and gave us abundance of history about Istanbul our kids loved him and we recommend him for your next visit to turkey

Very nice hotel, awesome location, friendly staff
Our stay at A'la House was great. We booked a 7-person apartment for 5 people. It was pretty big, had a double and triple bedroom, a common area/kitchen, extra sofas, etc, and fit 5 people very comfortably. It would adequately fit seven people too, I think. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The young man at the reception spoke very good English. On our checkout day, we had to leave late in the evening, so they gave us a room at a great discount (as we had to vacate our original apartment). They offered to keep our bags for free, but we wanted to take a shower later, so they gave us a room for the day at a greatly discounted price. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Sultanahmet.

Great location kind of....
Very close to Sultanahmet.close to shops and a seabus port so a lovely range of seafood restaurants nearby. HOWEVER not baby friendly no lift so you have to climb stairs to get to your room and ours was at the top floor!the fridge leaked and my husband wasn't convinced the air con was working. This part of Istanbul is very hilly and this hotel was at the bottom of the hill which was not buggy friendly,seriously this hill was very steep!

Good location, helpful management
This is a fairly old, basic hotel in the back streets of Istanbul's old town but only 200 metres from the Blue Mosque which makes the location excellent. The rooms are basic with good bathrooms and a good shower and s small kitchen with two gas rings, a microwave and a refrigerator.

I have stayed there for 3 days. The location is great 500 m to Grand Bazaar, the personal was very nice and helpful. The room was clean. Nice vacation in Istambul.

My bad experienced with this hotel
My worst experienced with this hotel. The aircond never working, the small refrigerator not funtioning at all. The shower was leaking with water on the bathroom floor. i checked out earlier than planned because the unconfortability of the hotel. I will never come back and recomemd to any of my friends to stay in this hotel.

A fine place to stay
It was a suitable hotel. The room was fine. Nothing special, but comfortable. If you're looking for luxury or a view, this isn't the place. If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive, well located hotel to crash after a busy day of sightseeing, it will likely suit your needs. The older proprietor speaks little English and we speak very little Turkish, but that didn't seem to pose a problem. We were there only two nights but it probably would be a great place for several days since it had a kitchenette. It's a great location to the Sultanahmet area. Far enough out of the way that it's pretty quiet and you won't be constantly hassled by street peddlers and carpet salesmen, but the Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, and other main attractions are within a 15 minute walk or less

Good stay if you travel light and willing to walk
The room is comfortable for a couple with a kid, however the hotel has no lift and walkway/stair are very narrow. It would be fine if you travel light and only use the room for sleeping. The location is great, walking distance to all major attractions in Istanbul. However, it's not really suitable if you need wheel chair or walking stick to move around as the street from/to the hotel is in hill area. The manager Mr Kutey is very nice and kind.

Why stay in this hotel? Great location, good service, fair price, clean room and helpfull staff. Why not? Old furniture (bed was making noise and water form shower was leaking all over the bathroom).

good value for money
The owner kept track of when we are coming and also sorted us our return transfer to the airport. The location is close but I bit quite at night.The roads are a bit steep and not suitable for elderly people and with physical problems.The room was nice and clean.It was good value for money for what you pay.

On arrival we were greeted by hotel manager he gave us a complimentary bottle of water and showed us to our room which was ok. Towels and slippers and in room safe provided by the hotel, cleaning of the room every 2-3 days. As this was our first time visiting istanbul a hotel closer to the attractions would have been ideal especially as we have children and a 15 minute uphill walk can be tiring for little feet. Overall good experience.

agree w/previous reviews: great location-walking distance to major sightseeings, be wear of steep hills, "San Francisco" style. Very nice family running the hotel. Unless you have large suitcases or arrive past very late, I suggest taking metro to the hotel. Takes about 45-1hr to get there from the airport, 1 change in trains, need to buy tokens for each But you avoid major traffic jams. It's a walking distance 4min down the hill from the metro station you get off -Cemberlitas.

Second time around and totally in love
Great place, totally recomend it. Only negative, it is difficult for taxi drivers to find it, but i arranged the transfers with the hotel, for everything else we just walked as the blue mosque and hagia sophia are 10 min away. Also tram line is close.

Nice hotel, close to all major sights
Very clean hotel with super friendly staff. The person we dealt with had just enough English so that we could communicate. Fantastic location for the sights. Bed was comfortable, room a little tight, great roof top that we had to our selfs every evening.

Great stay
Good little hotel right in the heart of the old city, within easy walking distance of the major attractions and tram stop. Stayed in the family suite which was perfect for us (2 adults, 3yr old), cleaned daily, friendly helpful staff. Would recommend.

Heart of Istanbul
Excellent family friendly hotel run by a very kind and helpful family. Excellent location. All major tourist attractions are only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood and if you walk around you can observe the daily lives of the people living in the city.

We had a great time at this hotel.If you are looking for location this is it!!! Only 15 min from Sultanahmet sightseeings.( Aya Sofia,Blue Mosque,Topkapi...) Room cleanliness could be better and if you are traveling with family with more than 2 kids ask for the apartment,because in the regular room there is no space for anything.Owners very helpful and speak good english. Enjoy!!!

The hotel was in a very good location. I was given a map of the local area and told about nearby attractions. The room was in very good condition and was clean with amenities such as toiletries, AC and satellite TV. The staff were very pleasant and nice, anything I needed was quickly provided. Overall, I had a wonderful time and will definitely recommend this hotel.

Strategic location!
Strategic location at the heart of the city, closeby tram line, some main attractions are just walking distance-away ie. Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar, Suleymanie Mosque, etc. Friendly and helpful staffs (thanks a lot!), suitable for cooking too!

Very kind service. Hotel staff woke up at 4 AM to make sure the taxi driver understood to take me to the airport for an early flight. Great rooftop deck with a view of the sea.

A pleasant stay
This guest apartment is very conveniently located in easy walking distance to the Hippodrome and the surrounding attractions like Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar. Although just staying alone for one night, I had a huge ground-floor apartment all to myself. Being at street level, one had occassional noise from passing people, but this was not a major problem. There are small convenience shops very close by if you want refreshments or to make yourself a meal in the apartment's kitchen, if you do not want to go to a restaurant. The host Kutay is very friendly and speaks excellent English, so a good resource for English-speaking travellers. His father is a charming old man, also very hospitable and welcoming.

Good location, close to the tram (although up a hill). Easy walk to the main sights in the old town. Several restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Air-con very effective and quiet (makes a change!). Minor flaws: could do with thicker curtains or better still black out blinds/shutters as it gets very light when the sun comes up. Also, the venetian blinds in the kitchen corner don't provide sufficient privacy.

This is not a 3* hotel
We stayed in this place in September 2011. It's stated it's 3* hotel but it's not. It's a little family business apartments building. Don't get me wrong: it's freshly but rather poorly renovated, looks fresh and nice from the first site. Also convenient for families 'cause they have little kitchen etc. But you can literally hear what's going on on the street and at the staircase, not to speak of the neighboring rooms. You can hear people breathing there, so old and poorly isolated is the building. The neighborhood is a bit undergoing but it's a walking distance from Hippodrome area which is very convenient. Unless you're ready to live along with the whole building, I wouldn't recommend this place to travelers.

Mooi net appartement voor de prijs die je betaald
Fijn verblijf gehad. Perfecte locatie en vriendelijk behulpzaam personeel. Enige nadeel dat je elke ochtend om 6 uur gewekt wordt door het ochtendgebed van de moskeeën in de buurt. Mooi dakterras om te relaxen.

Det værste hotel jeg nogensinde har set.. Dårlig klima på værelset, dårlig behandling af kunder. Vil helt sikkert ikke anbefale det!!!!
