“Wonderful experience”

Fabulous location, reasonable price, friendly helpful service - could not have asked for more - would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.

“Excellent location, very friendly staff”

A really pleasant place to stay, great location and an interesting building with ancient Roman ruins in the breakfast room. Right in the middle of Sultamahmet, and many good places to eat and drink nearby.

Area recommendations
The immediate area is great for short breaks. Also around Tacksim Square. The city is huge, and doubtless there are other places to go if you have time.
Must see
Must do things are Aya Sophia, Topkapi and a walk across the Galata bridge.

“An excellent small hotel conveniently located”

We stayed at the Acra Hotel for five nights in May 2011. The hotel is perfectly located to visit the main sights in Istanbul and there are a good selection of reasonably priced restaurants nearby. The hotel was clean, well maintained and the staff weer extremely helpful. A good selection of freshly prepared food was available for breakfast everyday and the dining room is light and spacious arranged arround ancient ruins. Highly recomended.

“Great stay”

Lovely hotel with the staff extremely courteous and helpful. Very impressed, and I would defintely recommend.

“Unsurpassed service”

Lovely Hotel with unsurpassed service. Nothing too much bother. Rooms excellent and 24x7 free wi-fi in reception. Lovely touch in the afternoon's was the free offer of pastries tea/coffee and light refreshment. Hotel only a 15 min walk to the Blue Mosque and the main tourist area. Walk takes you past some shops/cafe's and a beautiful bazaar. All in all a hotel worth staying at. Highly recommended.

Area recommendations
A first visit would be the European side. That is the main Tourist side with all the main attractions.After that cross the Bospherous and visit the Anatolian side. Also do pay a visit to the Pere Palace Hotel on the Modern side. It's expensive for afternoon tea but well worth the visit!
Getting there
Obviously flight but check out costs.Some good bargains. Don't let the flights that state you will fly via Zurich put you off. Very efficient airport with min delay. recommended and usualy cheaper than the direct flights. Once you book your flight check out the Shuttle Service between Ataturk airport and Istanbul provided by backpackers. Brilliant service, clean,tidy cars all air-conditioned and offer light refreshments on the trip. Their prices are well worth it and are excellent value for money. USE this service much superior to any taxi or hotel service unless the hotel service is free.
Getting around
Walk, use the ferry and tram the latter two efficient and cheap. Taxi's are not too expensive BUT check the fare before you get in and ensure you can see a taxi meter! You could get ripped off.

“Great Hotel for a long weekend break in Istanbul”

We really liked the Acra. The rooms are spacious, modern, comfortable, quiet and excellent value for money. The breakfast area is amazing (built around ancient walls) and the breakfasts were very good too. The best thing about the hotel is its location, quietly tucked away just adjacent to a bustling atmospheric cobble street area full of restaurants and bars. Its also within walking distance of several major attractions (Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern) and nearby is a busy main shopping street with the Grand Bazzar not far away. From the tram stop on the shopping street you can get to just about any part of the city easily and cheaply. Great for a long weekend break!

Area recommendations
Sultanhamet - the area the Acra Hotel is in. Atmospheric, plently of restaurants and lots to see and do nearby - but do also venture further afield. Particularly visit the Dombrache Palace, go on a Bosphorus boat cruise and walk westwards (downhill) down the main shopping street from Taksim Square towards the bridge between the old and new towns.
Getting there
We got to Istanbul very cheaply with Pegasus airlines from Stansted. However, the S. Goken airport is a long way out and cost 50 Euro each way for a pre-arranged taxi to the hotel (which took about an hour to get to the hotel). Travelling around in Istanbul is easy - Taxi's are cheap (if a bit terrifying) and the tram / metro network is great.
Must see
Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Dombrache Palace, Bosphorus boat trip. Grand Bazzar, Basilica Cisterns, a Hammam, the port area, the area South West of Taksim Square.
Dining
Lots of nice restaurants in the cobbled street areas in Sultanhamet just south of the area between the Blue Mosque and the Aya Sohia. For a superb but expensive evening meal, the Mikla restaurant is on the very top of a really tall building in the new town and has not only the best food in Istanbul but also the best view. Expect £75 per head including wine and pre-dinner cocktails.

“Great hotel, great staff, lovely room”

I highly recommend the Hotel Acra. Although we didn't arrive until 4.30am in the morning we were greeted very warmly by Hassan the night manager and his assistant who showed us to our room. The room was extrememly clean and very comfortable with tea and coffee facilities, mini bar, safe and a television. There was an extensive choice for the breakfast which was included in the room price and all the waiters were very accommodating, even though we had arrived after breakfast had finished. There was also tea, coffee and cakes served in the afternoon in the foyer of the hotel. All the hotel staff were very helpful with any questions we had and i would highly recommed the hotel to anyone staying in Istanbul.

“Das Acra Hotel liegt dicht an der blauen Moschee, der Hagia Sophia und dem Topkapi Museum”

Das Hotel liegt nur ca. 5 Minuten von diibverseb Sehenswürdigkeiten entfernt. Der Service war sehr zuvorkommend und dieses Hotel ist unbedingt weiter zu empfehlen.

“Buona la posizione, la location e la gentilezza, meno le camere”

Non consiglierei l'hotel perché la camera che ci nano dato era troppo piccola. Avevo precisato che ci avremmo alloggiato io, mia moglie e nostra figlia ed abbiamo trovato una stanza dove ci stava quasi stretto il matrimoniale dove hanno "ficcato" una banda. La connessione ad internet é lentissima e dal bugno usciva una puzza nauseabonda, tanto che avevano un dispersore di profumo che h24 rilasciava per coprire l'olezzo. Di boo c'é la posizione, la colazione di qualità ed abbondante e la gentilezza del personale
