Lovely place.
Or room was very clean and beds very clean and comfortable. Manager was very friendly. A beautiful victorian building. A little tired around the edges but we would definitely stay here again. Great value for money, highly recommended!

I have just returned from an amazing stay at this hotel, the hosts Ann & John couldn’t have been more helpful & friendly, I stayed in room 10, a lovely single room overlooking the front. Fab location with a lovely breakfast every morning, will definitely stay again

Nostalgic Visit
We had a good stay, the hotel was good and the location was just right.We were looked after by hosts very well and everything was as expected. We came for a nostalgic visit as I used to come to the Isle of Wight as a kid but a lot of it had changed since then but we enjoyed what we saw.

We enjoyed our stay here. Great location and very close to the Old Village. The hosts were very hospitable and helpful, the honesty box for snacks/drinks is such a nice touch. Our one criticism would be a very soft mattress (Room 9) which my partner could pretty much squeeze flat with his hands. This didn’t make for the best nights sleep. However, overall I’d recommend :)

perfectly situated in the beautiful town of Shanklin, within walking distance of the town, pubs, restaurants and the beach. Very clean and spacious rooms with tea and coffee making essentials. The hosts were amazing and very helpful with knowledge of the island, I would definitely go back there.

Great breakfast, pleasant rooms, lovely communal longe and friendly and helpful proprietors. Also in a peaceful quiet neighbourhood. Only slight negatives are a bit of a walk in to Shanklin and the beach….but otherwIse very happy with my stay.

Good little stay
The hotel was for a short stay of 3 nights. It is a beautiful building, but we were in a modern extension to the rear. The room had everything we needed and had an excellent price tag. We found the shower hot and powerful, owners very friendly and a honesty bar, which was very useful. The hotel is located around 800 to 900 yards from the Old Town, a little further to the coast. My only niggle was the bed was uncomfy but for three nights we coped. The owner to be fair was annoyed we didn't let them know and would have moved us. A great response. We enjoyed our time overall.

Comfortable and welcoming
Ann, our host, was friendly and very welcoming. There were comfortable communal areas to realax in. Our room was spacious and we were very impressed with the cleanliness of the room and en-suite. The bed wasn't awful, but also wasnt super comfy (or perhaps I'm just fussy). Eithervway, i managed to get a good nights sleep, and overall we had a comfortable stay. Nice selection of breakfast items. Wd had the full englush which was serbed hit snd fresh, with plenty of tea and coffee. There was parking space for guests, and bus stops situated right outside the lodge. Shanklin Old Village is a short walk away, with a good selection of restaurants, pubs snd tea gardens. Will definitely stay at Somerton Lodge again, and would absolutely recommend.

Super friendly hosts made us so welcome. The room was spotlessly clean with a generous hospitality tray. Overall we were extremely comfortable. I had breakfast at the hotel one day, which was very good, cooked to order. The hotel does not offer an evening meal but it is an easy walk to the old town with many restaurants.

The room was damp had cobwebs and insects for company all our clothes were damp it looks lovely in the picture but the cleanliness left a lot to be desired the sink leaked and there wasn’t enough room to swing a cat will not be going back
