“Beautiful and clean hotel, friendly staff, very good service”
We are very satisfied with our experience at the Melville. Not really satisfied with the quality of the breakfast, quite low to my opinion.
“We plan to return later in the year.”
No complaints at all, very pleasant stay.
“Good value”
This hotel provided a very good value short break. The dinner served in the hotel restaurant was excellent and was the best feature. The staff were very friendly. The major disappointment was that our room had an electric heater rather than central heating. Although this was fairly satisfactory on a sunny late October weekend, it's not what I expected of a three star hotel.
“We'd definitely stay here again”
The only minor area for improvement was the length of time we had to wait for our breakfast - on one of the days (50 mins). Other than that the indoor & outdoor pool were superb, it was great to have a steam room on site as well. It was slightly more expensive than a regular B&B but well worth it, as you got a lot more for your money. Our bedroom also had a brand new bathroom suite, which was very nice.
“Not good value for money- a bit tired”
This hotel is in need of some refurbishment - updating of bathrooms etc. Looks a bit tired in places and Spa area (plunge pool, jacuzzi, sauna etc) is very small. Outdoor pool not very appealing-a bit old and also not very big. Other than that the breakfasts and service were very good. Newspapers were at extra cost- not what we expected given the cost of the rooms! Older more immobile people should realise there are no lifts to the rooms.
“would certainly stay there again”
we enjoyed our stay and found the staff exceptionally helpful, friendly and efficient. the hotel was clean and rooms were adequate and comfortable. however some modernisation to common areas would clearly improve the customer experience
“Lovely Stay”
My girlfriend & I enjoyed a 2 night stay at Melville, and considering it's 3* and very afforadble, it's excellent. The bathroom was large, with a whirlpool, very clean, the bedroom had a new flatscreen TV and was very nice, if a little small. The facilities of the hotel were excellent, nice bar, spa treatments onsite, we had full body massages which were very good. The pool area is relaxing and has 2 different saunas, and a small jacuzzi. The setting is perfect, 10 min walk from Sandown Pier.
“Nice Spa and free of charge”
Very good value for money, excellent location, quiet but still very close to the beach
“Awful hotel!”
No lift to the bedroom, crack in the wall which you could post letters through, breakfast priced at fifteen pounds per person which constituted of ok bacon, luke-warm sausages, boiled mushrooms, unbuttered toast on rock-hard scrambled eggs (the eggs were put onto the toast as they came out of the cointainer they were put in as the edges were rounded!) Not impressed at all and a letter is on its way to the manager-DO NOT GO!!!!
