Fantastic views
Accomodation consists of separate apartment type buildings. Pool area is first class. Breakfast is excellent with various options. Only possible problem may be the walk back to hotel as it is situated up a very extreme hill.

Amazing sunsets overlooking the skyline
This hotel is situated on top of the hill and the view is simply amazing, you'll feel like you're transcended somewhere else. There is a fantastic pool, a small restaurant, free parking, and massage services on site which makes it very convenient to not have to leave the property if you just want to take it easy and relax. It's fairly close to two supermarkets for supplies and also Chora with a number of great restaurants/entertainment, but be prepared for a really steep hike. Also, if you are a light sleeper, you should anticipate you'll hear everything next door. I didn't mind this too much as I was fortunately put in a corner unit and slept like a log from all the great hiking nearby. Finally, the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. I didn't know about the shuttle service they have from 10am-3pm and they helped squeeze me into catch a last minute ferry - really kind people! Note: Cash only if you are paying at the hotel directly

Unfortunately despite email communication to the manager prior to arriving, about a transfer to the hotel from the port, nobody arrived to pick us up. There was also no option to pay by card at the hotel which was slightly frustrating. Apart from that, the staff were very accommodating to help my friend with her injured ankle. The pool and area around the hotel were much nicer than in the pictures and there was vegetarian options for breakfast. We did struggle walking to the hotel from the town as it was very steep, so you will probably need to hire an ATV. We would stay here again.

GREAT LOCATION, FRIENDLY STAFF
This hotel is in a perfect location, a two minute walk to the center of Ios and about a 15 minute walk to the nearest beach. Wonderful swimming pool and bar staff. The concierge team was fantastic, especially Kyriaki who was very knowledgeable and helpful regarding the surrounding area. They gave me a ride back to the ferry station at no charge. The only criticism I have is that the WiFi is very weak but other than that, I would definitely return. I had a fabulous time.

Great experience
Really glad we picked to stay at this hotel. The views are great and is in very close walking distance to the main town. The fact it is NOT near the port was not an issue as they offer free port transfers both there and back. The pool area is great with excellent ‘lounging’ facilities (& views) it also offers a very reasonably Priced pool bar. We opted for breakfast included which we were glad we did as it was quite big selections/portions - 3 pieces of toast, orange juice, tea/coffee, yogurt or fruit, scrambled/hard boiled egg, croissant & selection of spreads! as this is offered until 1pm we thought of it as a brunch and didn’t need anymore food until dinner.

Family run hotel with beautiful views
This is a very local and family run hotel in a beautiful location. It is a good option on a tight budget. We didn’t know that Ios is a party island in June-July, which is our fault! The hotel was full of young people partying and we are a couple with a baby trying to rest. Not a good combination! It also meant we didn’t use the pool. The family who run the hotel were very nice and helped us a lot.they explained that June and July is party time in Ios and then it becomes more family friendly island in August. We really loved being picked up and dropped off at the port, breakfast and the views are amazing! Thanks very much.

The view from the hotel was amazing and the owner was super helpful. He picked us up from the port and dropped us off as well. The location was perfect as well as it was close to the village as well as Mylopotas beach. Breakfast was also good and the room was clean. It does say on hotels.com that this hotel is a 4 minute walk from the Ios ferry port which is not true. It is in fact a good 30-40 minutes. Overall, a very good place.

Great hotel but they only take cash payments
Great hotel with good amenities. Only problem was that they failed to tell us we needed to pay the hotel bill in CASH at check out. The room was held with a credit card but we were never informed of the cash only policy by Hotels.com or by the hotel upon check in. We found out 30 minutes before check out and had a panic trying to get cash before our ferry left.

The owner of the Skala Hotel, Kilyakos, is the paragon of Greek hospitality. He greets his guests at the port upon their arrival and returns them upon their departure. An energetic and enterprising man, he not only manages the hotel, but he also oversees his restaurant, The Mill, located at the top of Ios Village. The view of Ios Village and the port from the hotel pool is absolutely stunning. This has to be the greatest bargain available on Expedia for Ios hotels!

Best view of Ios! Family is really friendly and have a GREAT restaurant down the road. Free transport to and from the port and they let you know all about the island, what to go see and how to get around. Rooms are a little outdated but the view, pool and friendliness of the staff are unbeatable.

Host came to pick us up and was great to give us a mini tour while getting to the rooms. Very friendly owner that took care of us and even gave us some shots at his restaurent later. I would definitely recommend staying there and going to his restaurant the mills.

Skala Hotel
Skala Hotel is very close to the town center in Ios. The hotel staff was extremely helpful, professional and friendly. If you have any questions ask away and they will help you out. The pool, breakfast are good. If I go back to Ios I will stay here next time.

Unbelievable view!
First, note that the map on hotels.com doesn't have the right location for the hotel. It is not in the port, but rather on the top of the hill. That said this hotel had an absolutely breathtaking view and its a bit outside the madness of the town square. The room was basic, practical, and very clean. The breakfast was delicious! The owner and his brother were extremely thoughtful. I will remember their kindness whenever I think about the trip to Ios.

Nice stay in Ios
Great stay, the owner came to pick me up and drop me off at the port. It seemed like it was already low season because there was no activity or BBQ or bar open by the pool like it suggested on the website or the billboards. Other than that, it is a great hotel, uphill (get ready to work out when you are walking to and from there) and the view is spectacular!

Best stay of my life
This hotel deserves a lot more than 2/3 stars! With the most breath taking views I have ever witnessed Skala hotel is bursting with atmosphere and character! Suitable spot for everyone the rooms are more like little villas! I went with 7 girls from Ireland on a holiday and the Skala family welcomed us and took us in as their 7 Irish daughters for the week! The pool and pool bar are top class and look out over the whole island! Kiriakos who runs this hotel was very accommodating and sorted out any transport we needed or activities we did during our stay! We paid approx 12euro a night for a stay which was worth a lot more! I would also recommend The mills restaurant in ios village for great traditional Greek food!!! 10/10 for Skala hotel, we will be back!!

The hotel is a little dated but has the most amazing view overlooking the town and water. It is high up on the mountain so be sure to get the shuttle up it is a tough climb. The owner manager is great and accommodating. We were there in low season but it will be busy in high season.

Gorgeous family hotel overlooking the Chora
We loved this hotel and will definitely return. Owner was helpful and friendly (good english), property was well maintained with gorgeous views, central to the chora, great price, and had lovely family dogs who wandered the property and made it feel like home. Short steep stroll uphill but suitable for any fitness level. Close to the owners family run restaurant (The Mills) which served well priced and amazing locally produced food. Looking forward to returning again!

Great hotel overlooking the old town of Ios
Some of the friendliest staff we've ever encountered - they picked us up at the port and brought us back to Skala, the owner, Kyrgiakos offered to drive us to the bus station and informed us of the beaches and how to get around, and then dropped us back off the day our ferry left, at the port. Also - the family who runs Skala hotel also runs a restaurant called "The Mills" right nearby, at the beginning of the old town. Excellent restaurant!

Skala Hotel in Ios Village
I cannot say enough nice things about the proprietor, Kilyakos, and his family, who run the hotel. They are so very friendly, accomodating and professional that you will feel right at home. While breakfast was not included with my room, the breakfast options were very reasonably priced and were delicious. Whether you need a car or scooter rental, want to take a tour, or want information about sights to see on the island, Kilyakos will cheerfully attend to it. The pool setting is idyllic and has a great little bar. It is an easy, 5 minute walk downhill to the enchanting village of Ios (also called Chora), with its narrow, winding little alleyways. Warning: The nightlife is for pros only; the clubs don't even begin hopping until about 2300 hours!

Good location between the beach and the village.
The owner of the place is so nice. He gives you a mini tour when he picks you from the port and tells you the things you can do around the island. For the amount you pay which is very cheap, you'll be surprise that you also get a welcome bottle of drink and a CD about the island when you leave. Very nice family who owns and runs the place especially the dad. If he sees any hotel guest walking while he is driving out, he would try to give everyone a ride. Mylopotas beach is just about 15-min walk but you can bus. The village is just about 5-min walk.

Highly recommend staying at skala. You get a great welcome from the owner, who somehow picked us up from the port, without us telling when we would arrive and an unpressured intro to some of the highlights of Ios. Hotel has a great view and is very relaxing. The whole place is set out very nicely in white and blue with lovely plants around and the rooms are a good size with a nice balcony or terrace. Beds were a little uncomfortable due to cheap mattresses and a few things were not quite as 'advertised' but small issues for a place that you will love if you go to stay.

As we went just before summer, the hotel was dead, along with the island! But that's what you'd expect at that time of year. The hotel staff were so friendly and cook some of the best food I've ever had!

Nicely located Hotel in Thira Village. Rooms were serviced daily and very comfortable. Thira Village is delightful and the Hotel owners restaurant 'The Mills' located some 200 metres away served an excellent traditional Greek meal.

The host, Mr. Kiriakos will do almost anything to satisfy his guests. We stayed in Skala for 4 nights and our experience couldn't be better. The view from the room on Chora is unforgettable.

We really enjoyed our stay at Skala. The owner picked us up at the port, showed us around the city and invited us to eat at his restaurant for 10% off. The restaurant was fantastic!! It's called The Mills.

I never got to see the skala hotel. I was put to another guest house instead. The location is wrong on this page. It is actually located far away from the port, so be aware of that.
