“Big Ten Championship”

The hotel was very nice, although we failed to have maid service on Saturday after our first night. Thus no clean towels, no garbage emptied, no coffee for Sunday morning, no beds made. Rather disappointing.

Indy has a vibrant downtown neighbordhood with many shops, restaurants, nightlife.

“Worth it”

The Hyatt Regency was still undergoing renovations on half of the lower floors when we stayed. Our room was completely renovated with updated furniture, carpet, fixtures, and electronics to give a more modern feel. We had a great view of the State Capitol building and could see the horse-drawn carriages below. We also enjoyed a really good breakfast buffet a couple of mornings during our stay. The pool and hot tub looked nice and there is a rotating restaurant on the top floor overlooking the city which we will be sure to make time for on our next visit. We were very satisfied with the hotel service and how an issue was resolved by the staff. I called about the room not heating up and the problem was fixed right away, plus they gave me a voucher to use for a free appetizer / breakfast / dessert in their restaurants, and followed-up with a call the next day to make sure everything was fine with the room.

Area recommendations

The Irvington area off East Washington Street is an older neighborhood that has an interesting history. We enjoy visiting the small shops and seeing the large houses as we drive through the neighborhood.

Dining

There are a number of good restaurants in downtown Indianapolis. We recommend St. Elmo's Steakhouse for a really nice dinner - the horseradish in the shrimp cocktail sauce will clear your sinuses!

“Disappointed”

My wife and I were celebrating our 30th year anniversary, and we were looking forward to the rooftop restaurant Eagle's Nest, but they were closed due to remodeling, so we were disappointed.

“Indy 500 Hotel”

Nice hotel. Service was very good but not everyone was in tune as to what was happening with the Indy 500 (i.e. transportation, parties, etc.) The hotel has had all of it's public areas redone. Lobby, bar, restaurant all very nice. Service in the restaurant and bar very good. Rooms have new comfortable bedding but need new wallpaper. Bathrooms in need of refreshing and housekeeping poor in the bathrooms. No in-room safes which seemed surprising. Great central location. Within walking distance to the convention centre. Lucas Oil Field, Circle Centre mall. Great restaurants nearby as well - PF Changs and a very cool wine tasting restaurant called - "Tastings".

Area recommendations

Downtown hotel - close to everything. Great location. Good shuttle service to the race track on race day.

“Would definitely return in the future”

I selected this hotel because of its location in downtown Indy, since I was participating in the 500 Festival Mini marathon. It communicates via Skywalk to the Convention Center and to the Circle Center shopping center. I would definitely consider it for future travels.

“In the Heart of Indy”

This hotel is in the heart of Indianapolis. With rooms built aroudn a cavernous central courtyard. Hotel is across the street is the refurbished Indiana Reperatory Theatre; a block away is the Indiana State Capitol and another block the breathtaking Civil War memorial. Shopping is only a block away too and so are movie theatres. Hotel is sorrounded by great restaurants and nightlife. Only drawback is the lack of access to the building with a car. It's quite difficult to find the entrance and easy to pass it when trying ot checkin. Also the $28 per day parking seemd a bit much. In addition to the hotel there is a rotatiing restaurant at the top that offeres 360 degree views of all there is to see in Indianapolis. Very nice facility

Area recommendations

"Tastings" across the street (caticorner). The "Grille" attached to the "Conrad" iwth wonderful old paintings of famous Indianans (ex. Knute Rockne)

“Hyatt Regency Indianapolis was HORRIFIC!”

Neighborhood was under road construction. Entry was filthy. Rooms were filthy. Moved rooms 5 times in 4 nights. Equipment (AC) was loud and worked poorly. Lights in bathrooms were burned out. Poor maintenance. We expected much better and were very disappointed.

Area recommendations

Not a damned one. The neighborhoods that were not boarded up were under road contruction and chewed up horribly.

What to pack

Sanitizers. Hand, spray, wipes, the place is filthy. And we live in the south.

“Great Bang for the buck”

Great location (connected to city circle mall and 10 min walk to Lucas Oil Stadium), nice and clean room, good price. Only cons : - The Ipod alarm clock did not work at all (good thing I didn't spend much time in the room). - The elevators are really really slow (it was faster going down the stairs) - There's no safe inside the room (there's a common safe at the lobby)

“Happy Colts fan”

My husband and I have never been to Indianapolis and did not know what to expect or where to stay. I was not disappointed. The Hyatt is so close to Lucas Oil Stadium as well as all the yummy restaurants. The hotel is huge but made you feel very welcome. The staff was very helpfull. We will defintley be going back.

“Expected Better”

I expected the Hyatt Regency to be the best quality of the Hyatt family of hotels. However, when looking over my room I found a stain on the bed throw, hairs in the sheets, a dirty side table, a dirty outlet strip, something sticky on the wall, and a burnt out lamp. I requested a new room, which was given to me. I found no dirty bed throw, etc. but the room was still not that clean. The tv channels were limited, the ice machine had no ice, and the gift shop had a foreign speaking person whom I couldn't understand. I'd rather have gone to a cheaper hotel down the street.
