The hotel reminded me of a small resort which was nice. They have security at the entrance which makes you feel safe. The pool area was my favourite part, very beautiful view. There’s a shopping mall in walking distance which was very convenient.

Rules, rules, rules; No uniform enforcement though
During covid era, that is the deal: hotels have policies. The thing here is that it’s overwhelming and hypocritical, not practical. They make you sign tons of papers, give you pages of rules, signs everywhere, very strict on vaccination cards (which is NOT the law yet, btw), BUT in actuality, no one follows any it. The pool area was full of people, breakfast area packed, one small elevator functioning for the entire hotel (5-6 floors). If they really cared about security, they’d restrict number of guests and fix their elevator.. Just made it feel stressful, people come here to relax. Those who are afraid should stay home for now, not require hotels to be more bureaucratic. I did not feel “safer.” Breakfast was pretty good, but other food was bad and ridiculously expensive. It is very much a family place so if you think it’ll be more adult environment, it’s not. It’s not on the beach, it’s a port. The pool area is really cool, and it makes for a nice sunset spot (if you find one in the crowd.) Convenient if you book a tour through them, boats leave from right in their dock. I would come back if they made it more relaxing experience than what I got.

On top of the restaurant there were the pipes from the aircondition. The noice was so high it was like saying in the middle of an airport. Terrible noice all day when you were on your terasse, even when you were in your room.

The pool is just breathtaking but the rooms and the hotel itself needs a lot of improvements. The bathroom had mold on the tiles and it's very outdated. Very expensive hotel for the price. The curtains were dirty and old. If you turn around while you were sleeping the bed would move. Very old bed. Overall, just the pool was worth my visit.

Simple but nice
This hotel was very nice but a bit could use a bit of upgrading. Front desk was helpful but it took forever to get food or drinks. We got a private boat through the hotel and had the best day!

Don't count on wi-fi.
Everything was excellent except for one particular dinner that was not edible. They said they would take it off my bill but did not do so upon checkout. Wifi was often not working.

Room was clean and was very comfortable. Wifi wasn't great but wasn't a bid deal. Breakfast was very good and the outdoor pool area was awesome - very nice clean pool (infinity pool) with a great view of the bay.

This hotel charges for ice!!!!!
The hotel Is like a resort, they have a swimming pool with a bar, you can stay their all day and doesn't need to get out. The rooms are like condos: little kitchens with a microwave, living room with a TV, bedroom with a walk in closet and a tv, nice and big bathroom and a balcony. Very nice. The room had some water damage and it's very humid but the a/c helps a lot. The floor is all very hard, no rugs to muffle the sounds. We stayed their in the low season so I guess when this hotel is full it is going to be very noisy. Breakfast is included and its a nice buffet. Lunch and dinner can also be purchase at the hotel. The one thing it really bother me: they charged us 10,00 reais (about 3 dollars) for a bucket of ice. A bucket of ice?! It was very upsetting.

Great room, nice pool. Terrible restaurant. Staff were friendly, but a frozen meal in the restaurant was met with indifference. We ate in the mall after that

solid hotel with nice pool and good location
The place doesn't blow you away - but it's a solid hotel if you want to stay in angra dos reis for a night or two and enjoy the pools with a view on the ocean. Staff is friendly and helpful, food is good.

Angra Dos Reis has little to offer in the way of fine dinning, relaxation or tourism in general however Golden Tulip is an oasis. You simply wouldn't want to stay at any other location in this area. Rooms were exceptional for this price range. Service was 1st class and the views were spectacular. Pretty much a resort hotel in a business community.

Beautiful pool, friendly staff
The pool is the highlight of this hotel, you will see that in the photos. It is beautiful. I also found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The restaurant food was good, and the breakfast buffet was superior to many of the hotels I have stayed at in Brazil (granted, none of those were luxury hotels just to set your expectation). The drawback is that there is some maintenance/renovation work going on at the hotel right now. This didn't really affect my stay at all, but could if you were in a room that is near the work, or if you like to sleep really late in the morning and would be bothered by the noise.

Arrived at the hotel at 10:pm on Friday night - restaurant had just closed, no vending machines for a soda - only Room Service or the Mini-Bar in room for water or soda. Restaurant was overpriced and was closed periodically during the day (between Breakfast / Lunch and Lunch / Dinner.

The photos are v misleading. Angra itself is no way near as pretty as the rest of the surrounding coastline. So The Golden tulip chain were v good and transferred our booking for a smallish sur charge to their sister hotel in Rio, We are very pleased with this - good customer service Just a shame Angra and the hotel were a massive disappointmentt - not sure why Brazilians go to angra when there was so many other nicer places!!

We were lucky to Get a room for two nights on short notice during a holiday weekend. We had tomswircj rooms, but that turned out for the best. The rooms in Block #2 are much newer and nicer than in Block #1.

Golden Tulip Porto Bali: a great option in Angra
The good: 1- spacious and very comfortable rooms (that include a nice balcony with gorgeous vistas), 2- beautiful swimming pool, 3- helpful and nice personnel, 4- convenient location not far from the city downtown, 5- GT has its own dock (that's OK for the mandatory boating tours to the islands in the nearby). The bad: 1- the best beaches aren't near the hotel and GT doesn´t provide transportation or orientation, 2- somewhat noisy (they're always doing some maintenance work or eventually you can hear loudly music in the swimming pool), 3- awful room service.

Hotel/area was nice enough, however, there were a couple of things that needed work. First, there was a very limited number of English speaking employees, making it difficult to communicate some basic needs (i.e. food orders, room service, directions, etc.). Second (and the biggest problem we encountered), concerned the hotel laundry service. My wife and I gave them approximately 20-25 articles of casual clothing to be washed/dried and received a bill for over $250. In addition, one of my wife's shirts had been burned with an iron, which they said we would be reimbursed for. Almost 4 months later and still no check. Also, be advised that the hotel is over 2.5 hours from the airport.

The hotel is comfortable, the rooms are large suites, the swimming pool deserved more maintenance and cleaning but the global opinion is ok. Free wifi at the lobby. Very good food at the restaurant. Note that Angra dos Reis town is not a great place to visit at all... The only interest is the Shopping center and the marina 3 minutes from the hotel... The nice beaches are out of town or on the islands...

Excellent Hotel for the price
We were travelling from Rio to Ilha Grande and wanted to spend a night in Angra to give us a little more flexibility. We found the Golden Tulip on Expedia, and although it was a little above our budget, decided to book 1 night there. We arrived at the bus station in Angra and took a taxi to the hotel which cost around R$9. The hotel was huge and when we got to our room we couldnt quite believe the size of it! !We had a suite with huge kitchen/dining/lounge area, lovely bathroom with massive shower, bedroom with walk in wardrobe and 2 balconys! For the price we paid we were very impressed. There was a beautiful pool area with huge pool, jacuzzi and a bar right next to it. Sitting drinking Caiprinhas watching the sunset was rather wonderful! We didnt make it to breakfast the next morning so cannot comment on what it was like. The only thing that made the experience less enjoyable was that the staff were not particularly friendly. However, we would still recommend the hotel.
