We stayed three nights on our trip to Iguazu and had a nice room with a terrace looking into the jungle. We were about 200m from the pool and 250m from the main lodge. It was a $US5 cab ride to town and the falls were probably ten minutes away and about $US10. We tried to use the bus, but a cab picked us up at the bus stop and offered a ride for the cost of two bus tickets. We ate in the restaurant all three nights and had great meals each time. Also ate three of the breakfasts which were nice, but similar to all other breakfasts we had at hotels in South America.

We flew in from Buenos Aires to see the Falls and stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. It was very clean, quiet and had an exceptional buffet breakfast. The bus (or cab) to the falls was a short 1 block walk from the hotel.
Front desk associate was very helpful when I called her, stranded at the ferry port. She sent a cab right away and had my early check in ready to go, so I could quickly drop off my belongings and spend the day at Iguasu Falls.
We stayed at Amerian Portal as a part of a 3 location, 2 week holiday. The hotel was such a pleasure. The staff were helpful and spoke English well. The hotel itself was well appointed and really is a resort offering in a small, regional area. The hotel was a haven away from the Puerto Iguazu township but close enough to allow a comfortable stroll into the township to shop and experience some local culture.
The pool is a focal point for the hotel along with the restaurant area. If you can't relax at the Amerian Portal then I
would suggest that you are going to find it hard to relax anywhere.

A unique experience in a magic place, just in the meeting of two rivers and three countries. With an extraordinary location, a …More
We arrived at Iguazu Jungle Lodge exhausted. We'd flown from JFK to the Argentine int'l airport in Buenos Aires. From there we'd had to take a taxi way across the city to catch our flight to Iguazu at the domestic airport. All that stress and hassle evaporated when arrived at Iguazu Jungle Lodge. They gave us a cool drink of delicious fruit juice while we checked into our room. Our "room" consisted of 3 rooms, actually. We had a kitchen and living room in addition to our bedroom, which had a wonderful balcony and looked out onto beautiful foliage and the river. The Lodge has a very large and well-maintained swimming pool. The breakfast is included and is very, very good. The restaurant on site has wonderful meat dishes (not just phenomenal beef, but superb Patagonian lamb), and offers very fair prices. They are constantly cleaning and maintaining the grounds. We stayed 3 nights, and I am so glad we did. I could have spent a week there just for the peacefulness. They offer tours as well, but do not push them on you in any way. GREAT, GREAT place to stay.

Pro: clean, quiet, economical, breakfast included (cereal, cakes, facturas, bread, ham, cheese, fruits, juice, coffee/tea), 10 minutes walk to town center.
Con: wifi only in reception area, staff had poor knowledge of touristic information, non-English speaking staff.
I've stayed in over 30 hostels and this was by far my favorite. The layout is awesome with a restaurant bar and pool free wifi and cheap bus rates to town and the falls. 2 days before I got to Iguazu my debit card and cash was stolen and when I explained it to Leo the manager he loaned me 400 pesos of his own personal money and had me pay him back 2 days later on Monday when my money transfer came in from western union. The staff was helpful and also socialized with the guests (kept it professional, just being friendly) and I wish I didn't have to leave as soon as I did. Would have loved to stay longer. I see a lot of people saying the staff were rude, obviously I didn't have that experience and maybe the staff is different now but I would definitely stay here again. For only $10 it's a huge deal
