Single day stay

Posted 12-Jul-2014
Most pick Candlewood for long visits or family travel. But I enjoyed it for a single night layover with just me and my pup. They are great with dogs. It was a comfy room, and it was nice being able to leisurely make my own dinner at night and breakfast in the morning. Not having to go out and leave my dog in a strange room, as I ate solo in a strange place - bonus!

Close to everything

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: We were close to the staff laundry room, so sometimes there was a bit of noise.
Location: Shopping mall nearby, Botanical Gardens, US Space Centre, UAH, I-565 close by and 5 mins away from University Dr
My husband and I went to Huntsville for a relaxing weekend. The hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful, had maps of the city available and explained how to get to places. The hotel is located near the Botanical Gardens, the US Space Center and UAH and we never had to drive more than 5-10 minutes to get to the points of interest. The room was spacious, clean and everything worked well.

Close to US Space and Rocket Center

Posted 19-Jun-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: The cleanliness, the comfort of the beds, the size of the television, clean dishes - with no film on them, and add a breakfast.
Location: Located near restaurants, a nice mall and other stores. It was close to the US Space and Rocket center.
Staff was fairly friendly but I was disappointed with the room. Had I known the room was to be cleaned once per week and clean linens were supplied only once per week, I would have chosen another hotel. The hotel was just okay. The bed was uncomfortable. I tried sleeping on the recliner. That was a disaster, because it was more uncomfortable than the bed! The dishes were not clean, but the refrigerator was okay. The bathroom was okay. The internet kept going out (That is the code I was given did not work consistently). There was no breakfast. Hotel staff (Desk staff) were matter-of-fact, but friendly enough, I guess. The television was too far from the bed so it was difficult to see and you had to turn it up loud to hear it, because of the distance to the bed. I did not use any other facilities. I will not stay again.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your comments and I am disappointed that you did not enjoy your accommodations. We do clean the rooms once a week giving our guest more feelings of home, where we do not bother them. We replenish and replace items daily or as needed at the front desk. The television has an extension on it so that it can be move closer or in any directions you prefer. This type of establishment is not for everyone but we do try to accommodate guest needs. Please try us again now that you are more aware of our hotel standards maybe you will enjoy your stay more.

Convenient, affordable...

I was in town for work and didn't spend much time in the room other than sleep and personal hygiene. Rooms were clean. Location was very optimal - close to many establishments.

Nice hotel;close to Space Center.

Posted 07-Apr-2014
Pros: Close to Destination.
Cons: Daily room service
Location: Close to Space Center and shopping centers on west side of Huntsville.
Two night stay for visit to Spance Center. Easy access from hotel. Only bad thing have to ask for clean towels daily ecause they only service rooms once a week. Room had full kitchen, (refridge, microwave, dishwasher, stove), which was great.

Yes, we like to give our guests their privacy, so the Candlewood way is to only access our guest rooms weekly to service the rooms. I am glad that although this was not a preference of yours, you still enjoyed your stay. Hope that you will choose to stay with us again.

Excellent stay

Posted 28-Dec-2013 on Hotels.com
Very excellent stay. The rooms at the Candlewood, to me, have always been some of the best homes away from home. It had a regular-sized fridge, dishes, pots, pans, plates, and a dishwasher. The room was luxurious. I also went with this one because it seemed like it's in a safe part of town. The only blemish was the chair, which had wear-and-tear, but it's very minor. Also, my room had a bed and a couch bed. This may not sound as fancy as hotel rooms that have two beds, but realize that the couch bed was in another room. That's right: the living room and the bedroom are two separate rooms. This hotel is also located at a business part of the town, so it's pretty safe

Nice hotel

Posted 19-Nov-2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed here after a wedding in the area and it was great, especially for the price. The room was comfortable and clean and it seemed to have been recently redone so it was modern and looked new. Loved that there is a full kitchen area in the room as well fully stocked with all things needed (silverware, dishes, cups, coffee machine, stove, microwave, etc. ). They also have a little general store that has food options which is super convenient. The outside/lobby/hallways of the hotel itself were not great but that didn't matter much to use. The bed was comfy enough and it was great for our overnight stay. Would definitely stay here again if I were in the area- the hotel was definitely just as nice as others in the area and for 1/2 the price.

Dirty, Disappointing and Way Below Standards

Posted 19-Nov-2013
Pros: It was close to my business meeting.
Cons: Cleanliness, furnishing, new linens and bedspreads, overall repairs through out the hotel, staff training.
My wife and I have always had excellent experiences with Candlewood Suites, so when I needed to travel to Huntsville, Alabama on business, we were confident that the brand name would live up to its guarantee. Contrary, the hotel was dirty, outdated, with worn ripped furniture, worn curtains and linens. and the front desk staff was very unpleasant. The refrigerator was so loud it kept me up at night. When I started to walk down the hallway, I witnessed one of the staff members take a dirty guest towel, wipe a water glass with it and put a new paper lid on it. Disgusting. The "Executive Office," was a tiny closet sized room with a very old computer and one printer, which I was told, doesn't really work. I wanted to leave immediately, but I had meetings to go to and was not familiar with the area. I can never trust Candlewood Suites again. When you travel 3,000 miles on your own dime for business, the last thing you want is to be treated disrespectfully, and have to sleep in a dirty noisy room.
