“not impressed bad food”

food was bad. the bars were not ever open. only one bar during the day. it sucked.

“Best choice for a relaxing short and non-expensive vacation”

Excellent personnel attention, excellent service. Food was not outstanding but was very good. Would suggest more variety of beverages during meals in buffets. Also, would have liked more variety and better served drinks in bars. Room are very confortable but need to be refurbished, they look old. Overall, an excellent experience for the price.

Area recommendations

Take the 9 bay tour, I took it a few years ago and is great. Some friend told us about the the falls and to spend a day in the San Agustin beach, they said they are awesome, we will do it nex time. Also, take a tour to downtown La Crucecita, it is a small town to walk and see its church, market plaza, and there is a small shopping center with cinema.

“Nice Stay at the Barcelo”

The Barcelo is a very nice place to stay for families and children. They treated us very nicely there, and everything was as we hoped and expected.

“very very nice”

Our first trip to huatulco.Thought the area was fantastic and would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat.The meals were very good the speciatilty restaurant 's were top notch and all of the staff were very friendly and helpfull.The rooms were kept very clean the resort was spotless and the nightly entertainment was first class so all in all a very good resort and a great location.

“Great place to unwind”

Upon arrival at the the resort, the staff were very willing to help me with my baggage. I was able to check in very quickly. Was taken to my room and my baggage showed up within 5 minutes. From that minute on my 2 weeks there was great. The room was very clean and had a good housekeeper who laid a different flower design on my bed everyday after she cleaned my room. The food was very good, and with the two buffet restaurants you could find anything that you wanted to eat. I eat very health and watch what kind of foods that I eat, and I had no problem with getting enough to eat and the foods that I wanted. The pool area was very clean and lots of staff going around keeping it clean, the entertainment staff was great and kept us busy though out the day with events. I had a great time and would go back to there is a heart beat.

Area recommendations

Right outside the resort is a bar and grill that is open only in the evening called the Tipsy Blowfish, I recommend that you visit this place as there was lots fo Canadians there and we had a great time. Very friendly owner and daughter running it. It was a great time.

“Barcelo used to be better”

The staff wasn't helpful at all, their faces were long and it took them a whole lot of time to get whatever we asked them for. And by this, I don't mean anything special but ordinary things such as a drink, a high chair, or a table at the restaurant. Sometimes they wouldn't get it at all. You might not get a reservation in the specialty restaurants even if you pay for the premium service, so don't bother to pay the extra fee. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to families with young children.

“The Barcelo continues to get our business”

It's a great hotel and staff, with beautiful grounds. The pool and beach areas are the best. We've vacationed in Huatulco 5 times now and stayed with Barcelo the last 4. Hope to make it 6 times in 2010!

Area recommendations

La Crucicita is an amazing town and so beautiful and clean and friendly. Don't miss this.

Traveller's tip

Get on the beach and watch for Valentino, who always carries a red frisbee. He's the best and will take you on a small boat to see the bays, snorkel, fish or to motor around to look for dolphins and sea turtles. He's friendly and honest and we watch for him every time and will do so again as soon as we get back! One note- the connection between Mexico City and Huatulco is so very tight, with customs being the biggest problem. with lines that go on for miles. To date, we've just made the connection but only due to it being late to leave. There is only one flight out early afternoon and the drama of whether you will make it or not is unpleasant and there is no direction from the flight crew or in the terminal to understand what you need to do and where to go. It's similar to the greatest race but we risk it even knowing the potential of being stuck in Mexico City.

“Descent Hotel”

Had a nice time, good hotel but could improve. Only things that we didn't like was the buffet food was cold so had to make reservations every night. The buffet food would have been good if it was at least warm no cold. Also, never knew what was going on or was offered at the hotel. The hotel had "parties" or "dinners" for all of the guests which we just happend to stumble upon. Felt like outcasts. Other then these 2 things this hotel is very nice.
