Checked in to the Peninsula around 8pm after a long day of travel from a different city in China. I was transiting out the next day so I didn't spend too much time on the property, but nonetheless the time I did spend was amazing. The rooms are beautiful, I had a nice meal and drink on the rooftop bar (which has amazing views of the Shanghai skyline) and grabbed breakfast in the lobby before my ride to the airport. Definately 5-stars plus at The Peninsula Shanghai.

The hotel was unexpectedly in a great location for our family. Maybe a 5 min walk to the Bund. Actually takes longer to take a taxi due to traffic. The service and room was nice. We have travelled Europe and although the room was small like Europe the amenities were far more superior! Shopping street is less than a stone throw away... literally around the corner! And if you love to haggle, it's the best place to go!
This hotel is a bit of a masterpiece. We stayed on the Fairmount gold floor which adds some personal service, use of the gold lounge, and very nice rooms. Every part of the hotel has been restored to the highest standards while keeping with the 1920s theme of the original. In some ways it is like going back in time, but with all the modern conveniences.
Breakfast was great in both the Gold Lounge and in the main hotel restaurant (which had views over the Pudong skyline)
The concierge services could not do enough for you. The view from the Cathay room restaurant and terrace is perhaps one of the finest views in the world. Shame however that the evening meal in there (while it was OK) was overpriced for what it was.
Great views from this hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Catch the train to and from the airport (saves on the white knuckled taxi ride and is also an amazing experience as the train travels at 430km's a hour... which is slightly quicker than the taxi's without the 6 lanes of traffic driving where 3 lanes are marked)!

Shanghai’s top tourist destination, Huangpu boasts the renowned shopping strip of Nanjing Road. Another drawcard is The Bund, a mile-long riverside stretch on Zhongshan Road that encompasses 52 buildings representing various Colonial and modern architectural styles. Shanghai Museum, Grand Theatre, People’s Park, and People’s Square are also in this neighbourhood.
