The Hotel facilities and location were perfect. Reception staff were very helpful, especially with locations that we were interested in Shanghai. The décor was in a simple yet modern character. Our bed was extremely comfortable, and views were ideal. Bathroom facilities were more than adequate, with plenty of cupboard and drawer space.

Checked in to the Peninsula around 8pm after a long day of travel from a different city in China. I was transiting out the next day so I didn't spend too much time on the property, but nonetheless the time I did spend was amazing. The rooms are beautiful, I had a nice meal and drink on the rooftop bar (which has amazing views of the Shanghai skyline) and grabbed breakfast in the lobby before my ride to the airport. Definately 5-stars plus at The Peninsula Shanghai.

This opulent hotel is beautiful. The front desk staff were very courteous and helpful. Rooms are well appointed with lots of space! The pillows are hard however. Had I stayed longer, I would have requested a much softer pillow.

The hotel was very comfortable but the Keurig coffee maker in the room leaked and did not make coffee. The hotel cafe served adequate and reasonably priced dinners, but the breakfast buffet seemed overpriced in comparison.
The level of cleanliness is slightly below expectation - the cleaners have to attended to details especially in the toilet. Some general wearing of the furniture. The restaurants are super expensive. Breakfast was more than $200 per person, when one of our evening meal for 4 was just $240. The restaurants in the hotel were also super expensive when there were so many cheaper alternatives close-by. The "old Shanghai" theme of the hotel was appealing, and I would stay there again in the future but will still not find the food price attractive.
This hotel is a bit of a masterpiece. We stayed on the Fairmount gold floor which adds some personal service, use of the gold lounge, and very nice rooms. Every part of the hotel has been restored to the highest standards while keeping with the 1920s theme of the original. In some ways it is like going back in time, but with all the modern conveniences.
Breakfast was great in both the Gold Lounge and in the main hotel restaurant (which had views over the Pudong skyline)
The concierge services could not do enough for you. The view from the Cathay room restaurant and terrace is perhaps one of the finest views in the world. Shame however that the evening meal in there (while it was OK) was overpriced for what it was.
Hotel was very comfortable, location and access to sights was excellent. Walking distance to most popular tourist sights and easy access to subway station "Nanjing Street East"
Close to City Sightseeing Bus stop. Walk out of hotel directly onto Pedestian Walking Street.
The decor could do with a facelift . Other than that this is a great hotel - clean , centrally located near the metro and near restaurants. This is my 4th visit to Shanghai and is one of the better hotels .

Shanghai’s top tourist destination, Huangpu boasts the renowned shopping strip of Nanjing Road. Another drawcard is The Bund, a mile-long riverside stretch on Zhongshan Road that encompasses 52 buildings representing various Colonial and modern architectural styles. Shanghai Museum, Grand Theatre, People’s Park, and People’s Square are also in this neighbourhood.
