We only stayed one night at the Laila Food and Drink Guesthouse and I can say in all honesty that I have never had better hosts - sure the rooms are pretty basic but if you want Hilton, expect to pay hilton prices. For myself and my wife the room is only a base and a place to sleep. What we value with our travels is the experience. The night we stayed there was a birthday party and we were made most welcome, with food and drinks being provided, together with that fantastic, relaxed friendly atmosphere.
If you want swish rooms then go to Hilton or similar but if you want hospitality at budget prices then look no further.
I booked using the Dusit Club package, which provided great value for money in terms of meaningful "free" extras (breakfast, Club snack & pre dinner drinks etc. The hotel facilities are top class, both the accommodation (room size, facilities, cleanliness), grounds are A++++ in terms of the view, landscaping, amazing pool area, proximity to the beach. It was like paradise.
The staff were informal, thoroughly friendly and professional to the holidaying traveller. Nothing was too much trouble and that was from every staff member from supervisers to gardeners.
The location Hua Hin is 2 hours drive from Bangkok and is a place for couples, families, business get aways. The area has lots of resorts, so there's plenty of tourists visible but with a complete absence of the glitz of Bangkok or Phuket. It seems a strong European, Thai and Asian holiday destination.
Plenty of typical Thailand tourist tours to experience, including both historic and natural attractions.
If you want a wonderfully relaxing hiliday in the best possible surroundings, then look no further. If you want boozy nightlife and girlie bars, go to Bangkok or Phuket.
Located on the main road, fast check-in at Citin Loft hotel located 50m down an alley opposite this hotel. We had a reasonably-sized room with balcony facing the main road. Comfortably furnished with King-sized bed, fridge, coffee maker, 2 bottles complimentary water daily, Old TV, bathrobes, free strong WiFi (10 Mbps) in room, daily housekeeping, safe & clean. Near railway station, beach, shopping malls, 3 night markets, good & cheap seafood, local food, bus & vans to bangkok & local bus station along Sra Song road, in front of Siripetkasem hotel. Good value no frills hotel. I would stay here again if in Hua Hin.
The rooms require a little maintenance and updating, the whole villa looked like it was tired and in need of some care. Pools were not heated and too cold to enjoy. However, the overall resort was very relaxing and beautiful. We found the Thai food in the restaurant a little disappointing but the Western food top class. Service great.
