Awesome service

Great place, awesome service. Place is huge. Pools you need to walk to get there. Rooms are (as expected) pretty nice, close to the Galleria, shopping, eating places. Check in quick, corteous, neat. I mean all works smooth in this place. Quiet, it is quiet although place was packed (2 weddings) night was so quiet. I love the place, plan to return. There is a charge for self or valet parking (again as expected for the area) just consider that and don't let it sour your stay during check out, I always park myself to avoid charges, here I valet, took advantage of it and just relax.

Vacation with 9 & !0 yr old boys and Grandparents

Posted 19-Jun-2015
Pros: The Pools; The setting
Cons: More help with choices for TV...
Location: Loved the Location... we went to the Minute Maid park to see the Astros, we also were able to check out the Aquarium, the Zoo, and the Museum
My husband and I just returned from our stay at the Houstonian Hotel. I picked the hotel because of the pool, or pools I should say. They did not disappoint. The staff was great! We wanted to take our grandsons on a short vacation and thought Houston might be a good place to hang our hat for a couple of days. We toured NASA, The Battleship of TX, The Zoo, The Museum and Aquarium. Everyday they just wanted to come back and swim. I would not recommend this hotel for the cuisine for our group though. (Much to upscale) I had to decide on breakfast being included or the pools and the pools won. The room was clean, and the staff helpful. Not crazy of how the TV was set up but we weren't in room that long. We did find out that the Club and all the amenities were included in our stay- Tennis courts, (outside and inside) SPA, Basketball Court, and Kids indoor play area. We checked them out and they looked great but we had no extra time. There was a big pool with hot tub with big slide, there was a huge lap pool, and another smaller pool to chose from. The big pool is where we were most of time. Even though my husband and I watch our guys, there were 3 Lifeguards on duty at all times- Loved that! Boys wanted to swim in lap pool but there are kid restrictions on times so just be aware. The smaller pool had more little ones so you know we didn't spend much time there. This was a good place that I enjoyed too.

We came for the Club & Spa, but...

After booking this hotel for a birthday surprise, the surprise was on me when I discovered the spa couldn't offer a single service to us due to being fully booked. Had I known more/better, I would have booked spa treatments in advance. Either provide the ability during room reservation to book spa treatments and inform guests upfront you often get fully booked or add more staff.

Great stay. Staff was friendly and always willing to assist. Gym was amazing. Pools were fun for the kids. There was so much to do there, we did not have to leave the resort.

A gem of a property

Posted 18-May-2015
My family and I have stayed at the Houstonian twice in the past 3 years. It is one of our favorite hotels. The staff is professional yet friendly and helpful; the rooms are large and comfortable; and the common areas are Texas old-school elegant. The real selling point for us is the health and fitness club right next door. Hotel guests have free access to the pools; fitness room; racquetball and basketball; and yoga classes. This club is simply fantastic and makes a fine property even better.
