Hotel near everything in downtown Houston

Great location. Rooms are in good shape. Elevators need upgrade. Food is so so. Near dozens of fine restaurants; some within walking distance.

Had to call maintenance twice

Posted 20-Nov-2014
Pros: The comforters were nice and warm.
Cons: Inspecting room before guests arrive and make sure everything is in working order.
Location: We were there for Nutcracker Market.
When I checked in about 4 pm the front desk said there was no water in the hotel, should be back on by 6 pm. When in the room the blinds in the room would not lower, chain was stuck, maintenance came and after some struggling got it to pull down, drapes would not close, so he had for remove tacks that was holding them open. After running the heater for an hour there was no heat. It was the first really cold night in Houston. I call the front desk again and she said there was no heat, the hotel had not changed from a/c to heat and there was no heat in the hotel. But she would send the maintenance man again. After taking some ceiling tiles down and working for 20 minutes, there was heat in the room.

Pros: Cleanliness, atmosphere, lounge, friendliness and overall nice place.
Cons: Nothing that affected me.
Location: location great as to what I was doing there. George R Brown close as are all freeways and easy access.a
I have stayed there before when attending the International Quilt Festival and also recently. The rooms are very nice, easy access and location to restaurants, etc and George R Brown convention center. The staff is always very friendly and courteous. Will stay there as usual when in Houston for anything.

Nice hotel, close to uptown and not to far away from the heart of Houston. The room was very nice but it didn't have a safebox
