“Poorly run hotel--smelly trash room, laughable breakfast, no assistance after 11, ill-stocked rooms”
My stay was very unsatisfactory. I arrived at 9:30 and was given the room next to the "trash room". I room that smelled scary as you walked past it in the hall. I was surprised to find that my room was right next to it. I was about to get ready for bed at 11:15 when I realized there was no soap or blanket or pillow case for the extra pillow. I later found that there was also no coffee pot in the room. I called the front desk and there was no answer, I went to the desak and stood there for 10 minutes calling to anyone whoi might be in back. Noone ever came out. I went back to my room and called again and got an answer. I found that the housekeeping person was left in charge from 11 pm to 7 or 8 am, and she was doing laundry when I was looking for someone. She was not able to get me anything but a pillow. I asked her to report my poor room situation so that it would be remedied for the next night. Breakfast was waffles and packaged muffins and bagels and coffee. Very sad. I got in at 9:30 pm again the next night and found that noone had looked at the report of problems and had to explain my story to the attendant. I did get all of my stuff and the trash was less smelly. What a poor stay.
“Would recommend to friends.”
I stayed in 3 different rooms, as I left for the weekend and then had to extend my stay for another night after checking out. The first room was near the rear exit, and someone was slamming in and out all night, so I would not recommend that room. Another night I was next to the elevator and did not notice any noise from that. The third room had an odor from cooking, but overall the rooms were very clean. The rooms have full-size refrigerators which is helpful for long stays, and some dishes and a dishwasher are provided. The continental breakfast was good but a little heavy on carbs for someone who is diabetic. There is a free shuttle to all the hospitals in the medical complex that runs every hour, which is very convenient. There is also an outdoor pool and a small fitness room, and there are restaurants and shopping nearby.
“Great location near the medical center”
We needed a place close to the medical center and this certainly is. The hotel is nice but had a couple minor issues - the beds were not very comfy, the microwave didn't work and the air conditioner was a little loud but overall, a nice place and I would stay there again if I needed to be near the medical center area. It's a no frills kind of place but for the price --- a good deal.
“Convenient location”
I am not familiar with Houston and had requested accommodations near the jobsite where my company is working. This hotel fit my needs. The rooms are clean and it's good to have a kitchen to prepare my own meals. Our company's travel coordinator has already booked another reservation for me at the same hotel.
“Not exactly what we expected”
Our room was good in that it was spacious and included a full size refrigerator and mini kitchen, however it was not clean. There were water stains from a wet washcloth on all the appliances and sink. There was no coffeemaker and it took 2 hours to get one. When we got it, it was dirty. The container for sugar and sweetener packets had crumbs in it and the packets looked like they had bleach overspray. I threw them away so they'd have to put new ones in. The clock in our room was broken (glass cover broken in half) and said 5:20 our whole stay. There was mildew/mold on the shower curtain and in the grout in the shower. The bedding did not look clean. The paper brochure on the bed about the hotel had grease stains and appeared to have gotten wet at some point. Before checking out, I placed the used coffee cups, etc in the dishwasher. It was broken too. Never started to wash the dishes. Too expensive for the quality of the room. Next time, we'll spend the extra $30-50 per night for a cleaner, fresher room!
“Quite nice and clean and friendly”
This was a great value for the dollar! This is especially a nice place to stay in the Medical Center due to its very close proximity to the Medical Center. You can practically walk! If you find it too hot and humid to walk, you could walk to the nearest light railway or just enjoy a ride with the hotel shuttle service, which is complimentary with a frequent schedule. There is a large refrigerator, a microwave, a very clean cooking heater, a dishwasher, a coffee machine, complimentary 10 cable channels, a recliner and nice beds. The room service does not come everyday, but the room is very clean and the room service, if called, will come and clean the room. If not, they will come once or twice a week. The complimentary breakfast is fulfilling and more than satisfactory. Coffee may run out earlier than expected but they brew it frequently. There were three different types of coffee; Dakota, European blend and the non-caffeinated. I preferred the European brand. There is bagel, apple, orange, banana and a cupcake of choice of either chocolate or nuts. It is an al you can eat open buffet breakfast. The breakfast place is nice with cute little tables and a television. You could eat there or just pick up your breakfast to eat at your room. Request for non-smoking at the check up even if you opted for non-smoking at the reservation.
“Met our needs for the extended weekend”
We were in town for the Final Four. The hotel was close to the metro so it was easy to head N or S in the city. That allowed us to get to the convention center and to Reliant Stadium without a problem. (I think there was also a zoo stop). The room was a little bigger than I expected. The hotel was quiet. I think there is even a "quiet" curfew. If you are looking for a place close to one of the medical buildings this is it. And it is a quick drive to Rice. The breakfast was really weak. Head over to Krogers on your first day to load up. If you are looking for a place to eat within in walking distance you'll have to head to the medical area. Otherwise you'll have to drive. I recommend any of the Papa restaurants. We took a day to head to the Space Center and Kemah, which wasn't too far away. And we spent another day in Galveston. For your reference, the only decent thing for adults at the Space Center is the trolley tour. Otherwise the Center is too kids oriented (i.e. amusement park). Kemah Boardwalk was nice to walk around and eat. Galveston was great. We did go to the Houston acquarium which was nice while it lasted. I thought we were about half-way done when we hit the exit sign. That was it? The acquarium is underneath/surrounded by a bunch of roads. I hope there isn't an accident!
“Third stay.”
This was the third time we stayed here. For the medical center area you can't beat the quality and convenience of accommodations for the price.
“Only if you want to go to medical center during day time. Not very safe at night to walk outside”
The neighborhood is not safe. Expecially at night. Do not walk outside at night. Hotel is very close to medical center. Rooms are not that clean and you have to change your sheets and towles by yourself, and take trash by yourself. I would call it a furnished appartment that needs to be cleaned. Basic wireless internet is very slow, like dial up; just enough to check your email not more.
“no daily housekeeping service”
no daily housekeeping without paying extra--?!?
