great value in downtown Houston

Posted 23-Feb-2015
this is a wonderful little hotel for business travel. The rooms are a bit small but well equipped with wifi and a good working desk without a lot of nickel and dime charges. The free basic printing was a major plus in the lobby with coffee is very nice as is the adjoining restaurant

Staying in Houston after a cruise.

Posted 18-Feb-2015
Pros: The attached restaurant was very good and we enjoyed both our meals there.
Cons: The reception that you first receive when checking into the desk or just asking questions about your reservations.
Location: The hotel was very lacking in this kind of information we had to search it out ourselves.
We had a day to spend in Houston so we decided to stay in the downtown area. Never being to Houston we got a little lost trying to find some parking so we could walk around. We arrived at the hotel early to ask questions and the first thing out of the employees mouth was you can't check in till 3:00. I said I know we just have a few questions. He answered the questions politely after that and we were on our way. When we returned to the hotel AFTER 3:00 we self checked in and all was good. We felt that most of the desk employees were very snotty with the exception on one young gentleman (thank you). The room was adequate for our needs. I would recommend this hotel for economy purposes and location certainly not for friendliness.

No tub!

Posted 13-Feb-2015
There was no bath tub at all in our room. For Expedias on sale price we paid, the bathroom was way to small. I haven't heard of a nice hotel not having one. The first thing the hotel staff asked was for more money...would you like to upgrade to a suite?! Not our style and not what we believe a hotel should have for the price. Also, the couple we came with paid the same price for the same room...we got a bigger bed but the got a fridge and microwave.

Room Size

Posted 13-Feb-2015
Pros: location
Location: Downtown
This is the smallest room I've ever stayed in. The lay-out was great. But I was taken back by the size.

Good, reasonably priced hotel - Downtown Houston!

Posted 09-Feb-2015
Pros: Old-classic historic touches.
Cons: Bedding was good, but not quite what I expected. While advertised as a queen-sized bed, it appeared to be closer to a full-size.
Location: Lots to do - Discovery Green Park, Buffalo Bayou, the light rail to get to mid-town and Reliant Center. Nearby restaurants and bars - lots of options!
The Club Quarters staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel displays some of the "classic" historic building in Houston. The accommodations were pleasant and clean. While not "5-star", it was a good serviceable hotel that was close to everything I wanted to access.

Two nights in Houston

Posted 08-Feb-2015
Pros: Price and staff. Close to theater district. Nice free snacks and drinks in lobby.
Cons: Lobby bar and grill could be open later.
Location: Good for theater district.
Room was small but that's what we paid for. A/C unit was quite loud as it engaged and disengaged. Needed AC even though it was in the 40s outside. Windows didn't open. Room was modern and clean. Nice lighting. Be careful not to bump head in closet due cubby hole type shelves. Wife hit it twice getting stuff out of her bag. Staff was excellent, valet got our car very fast. Nice bar around hotel on same block that is opened very late. After opera we were able to eat past midnight. Good food and drinks! CVS drug store close by and Hard Rock about 6 blocks away. Not much shopping in downtown Houston. Would stay again if in town. Probably spring for the room upgrade if coming back.
