before I start I will make you aware that I am an ex hotel manager, and I have helped opened 2 4* hotels in the UK and another hotel in Greece. this does pose a problem for me as I constantly look at the finer detail whenever I stay away.
However over all the hotel was great and we had a fantastic holiday, we arrived late in the evening and went straight to our room, I had only booked and paid for a studio but the room we got was huge and very comfortable. the hotel was well presented and had some good facilities but needed a little husbandry. meaning that in places it needed a little lick of paint mostly in the corridor areas as there were a lot of scuff marks from the trollies. the pool areas were well kept and good but in the toilets some of the fixtures and fittings were rusty. the gym was adequate for a bit of CV training but was very basic and I felt the games/recreation room was heavily under utilised. that said you wouldn't go there to play games etc but it could be better for the kids. the area was great and there are lots of restaurants and bars to explore. the boat trips were great and reasonably prised but may cost more in the summer months.
the area is generally a sleepy fishing village and ideal for families or couples and there is a good bus service to get you to most places for a day out.
overall a wonderful holiday and worth a visit.
Couldn't believe our luck at getting this hotel in a package deal, expected much worse.
Clean room, very freindly staff; they even had a packed dinner for us on arrival, as we were too late for the meal. Hotel and the room spotless, both cleaned daily.
Great pool, cleaned every morning, not too busy, no need to reserve a lounger. Pool bar with drinks all day and evening.
All the food and drink we could want, but this are Portugese chefs trying to make UK food, so it's not great, only exceptable. We ate out most lunchtimes.
A fair distance to beach, but many walked it, we took a cab, they are not that expensive.
Hotel, Staff, Pool, quiet location.
Food, distance to beach.
Overall, very happy with hotel and would recommend it.
We stayed here in September, so a little quieter after the school holidays which we love and why we went. Hotel was nice clean and spacious rooms with all the facilities we needed especially with having a baby. Pool was lovely and clean which we all enjoyed. The bar was open until 11pm which was convenient however food was only available until 4pm which has to be my only criticism as occasionally it would have been nice to be able to eat when we wasn't going into the village. Overall a lovely stay and well recommended.

Travelled to this hotel the first week of July 2014 with my friend. Hotel is lovely and clean. We had a twin bed pool view room on the 5Th floor. Food in the restaurant is very nice and all is edible for all inclusive. Bubbly is also available for breakfast. Beach is just a short stroll down from the pool which is very clean. The hotel provide pool towels. Alvor town can be accessed by walking down one road or along the beach approximately a 30 minute walk - great bars, restaurants and tourist shops.
Entertainment isn't all that great, but we make our own.
Receptionist were very accommodating, especially on check out as our flight wasn't until the evening.
I will be definitely returning back to this hotel.
My boyfriend and I had a lovely first holiday together at this peaceful hotel. I have visited Alvor previously and stayed in a beautiful neighbouring hotel which is also owned by Pestana. Both hotels have been a pleasure to stay at. We would both like to return together in the future to explore more of the beautiful Algarve. Staff were both friendly and helpful. Alvor is a truly magical and special place. I would recommend people to visit Alvor and consider this hotel as an option. Happy days!!
Everything about our holiday went really well, we both felt the breakfast had improved so much from the year before. Pool and gardens were looked after to an excellent standard. The bar at the end of the day was relaxing with entertainment every night. Superb beech very clean. The hotel is in a perfect location far enough from the town but near enough to walk to, lots of restaurants and bars and also a supermarket very near the hotel. For us this this hotel and location for everything was prefect for us (10 out 10).
Excellent hotel, staff absolutely superb, special mention for room maid, so helpful and polite.
Brilliant breakfasts, especially our omelette chef, she was great!!
Excellent views out to sea and down to Alvor, we will return!!
