“Near the open markets”

Small, but clean rooms. Hotel service was great and the morning buffet breakfast was excellent. A short walk to both the day and night open markets, which are always fun. Close to the train station as well. A taxi ride to the ferry service to go to Hong Kong island, but not expensive.

“Not a bad stay”

Metropark Hotel in Kowloon is a fairly standard place to stay. Clean enough, comfortable enough and the staff are reasonably nice. Overall we were pretty comfortable, close to train stations and close to shops etc. Good, affordable place to stay, nothing very fancy.

“Great service & quiet location”

Being a first time visitor to Hong Kong, I had my reservations about staying here, wondering if it would be too far away. But for me it was perfect as I got to see plenty of Hong Kong, but was away from all the hustle & bustle. The free shuttle service from hotel to either Mong Kok station or Tsim shat sui was great. You can then pick up the star ferry over to Hong Kong island, which I loved doing, so cheap & quick & easy. Once on the island, I just hopped on & off trams all day exploring, at 2.30hk$ a time it is incredibly cheap, about 20p a ride!! Sit upstairs and just watch the street life. Hotel management are wonderful, especially Keith. Cab fares are equally inexpensive, it cost around HK$20 - £2, to go from Tsim shat sui to Hong Kong Museum of history ( closed Tues / free admission Wed ). The roof top pool was nice enough - had the sun been shining i'm sure I would have loved it - unfortunately, visiting in November, i saw lots of rain. The hotel Buffet breakfast offers plenty of choice & eggs freshly cooked to your liking. Take the free shuttle to Mong kok - there is a great market there - don't forget to haggle!! You can easily walk back to the hotel from here in 10-15 minutes. Conveient supermarket across the road. I'm returning here in 3 weeks and look forward to it.

Must see
Take star ferry to Hong Kong island, then Bus 15C to catch Peak tram. Ensure you have exact change or be happy to not receive change on buses. HK$2.30 for 15c per passenger, I just deposited 5HK$ for the 2 of us, was not worth worrying about a couple of pennies overpaid! Do ride the trams, impossible to get lost, they all eventually come back down the main road where you can catch star ferry after 10 min undercover walk.

“Good value outside the center”

The hotel is big and in good shape. Many cafes nearby. They provide free shuttle service very 30 minutes to the Mong Kok station, or the Mong Kok East station is a 10-minute walk. This is a convenient hotel if you are going to/from Shenzhen since the Mong Kok East station is on the rail line that goes to Shenzhen. When arriving from the airport, they have a bus shuttle service to the hotel for a relatively modest fee. As far as breakfast, skip the hotel breakfast and go to the dimsum banquet hall across the street for a real local's experience.

“Good choice”

Stayed here on vacation (to attend brother in laws wedding) Sept 29-Oct 4 and found the room to be clean, if small (hey you're in a major metropolitan area surrounded by water and mountains so what would you expect) but nicely appointed. Service was good and prompt when I asked for help with connecting to the free internet (wired and someone came to my room in 5 minutes with another cat 5 cable at 2am when I had trouble getting online) and when I needed another adapter (also within 5 minutes of calling). Used hotel restaurant for breakfast twice using their $50HK/person off coupon for a breakfast buffett bringing the cost down to $78HK or about $10US for a nice variety of choices. Not the greatest but an adequate meal to start the day and reasonable given you are in a hotel in HK. Surrounding area is also nice for HK. As my wife explained to me, this is considered a middle class area with lots of families living within a mile or so in nicer apartments. Coming from suburbia it looked somewhat rundown but I don't live in a large, old city so I am not the best judge. Transportation should not be a problem as there is an airport/hotel shuttle for $100HK/person or taxis that cost us about $250HK or I heard the subway (MTR) costs $90HK/person but since the taxi is only $60HK or about $8US more for 2 we took the taxi. Getting around town is also easy as the hotel has its own shuttle that goes to Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui every 30 minutes. Or you can take a taxi.

“Kowloon Metropark”

We stayed at Metropark in Causeway bay and loved it so we thought kowloon's metropark must be great too. The room is way tiny, this branch is also very dated. Also, despite being on the 19th Floor, there's a lot of machine noise -- not from another building or the streets but from the hotel itself. The elevator makes a loud mechanical noise each time it stops at a floor. We were far from the elevator but still heard it loud and clear and I'm not exaggerating. Service and cleanliness was great but I will not stay at this hotel ever again.

“Good shuttle service, next door to good cafe, supermarket”

More civilised neighbourhood than Nathan road area. Amenities are close by. Free shuttle takes you to shopping streets, subway and harbour scenes.
