I have a background in fashion and interior design and travel for business frequently- I consider myself a discerning hotel guest.
This was my second stay at Hotel G and I have already booked my next stay here!
The Dakota was a thoroughly pleasant place to stay. I believe that the others who have left less than good reviews of this location may have had ridiculously high expectations from a hotel that is one of cheapest we could find in San Francisco. We stayed for 10 nights and found the rooms were cleaned daily, the staff were friendly and helpful and the location was absolutely brilliant.
This was a wonderful hotel to stay in while in the city alone for a business trip. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The Inn provided complementary water bottles and good toiletries daily. The room was kept very clean and updated as well. The sitting room on each floor was great for gathering and was used for a nightly wine and cheese happy hour. Many guests did congregate here and we ended up having a wonderful night talking and getting to know each other. The provided breakfast each morning was lovely as well. The location was in walking distance to many sights, particularly the trolley, Union Square, Chinatown, the BART, and Ferry Building. Although it was downtown, the rooms were very quiet at night. I highly recommend this inn!
The concierge was very friendly, the desk was professional, the room was conveniently located (10th floor) between the free coffee (9th and 11th floors). The elevator even has a couch for tired walkers. The lobby reminded us of early 20th century but was clean fresh and interesting to look at. Cable cars on the corner took us to Fisherman's Wharf, the BART is only 4 blocks away. Nice convenient restaurants all around. Lots of shopping all around. Best of all we were there when the Giants won the World Series and got to see all the fans go crazy in the sports bar and then the streets. We were there for our daughter's wedding at the courthouse at the same time the city had their parade for the Giants right outside on Haloween. So thank you San Francisco and Kensington Park Hotel!
The lobby was clean & nicely decorated. The staff at the desk took care of us right away. Our gear was stored tho it was hours before check-in time. Everyone showed us great courtesy & made us feel secure. The location could not have been better, for dining, dancing & gallery hopping. The day & evening concierges were so helpful, it really made our trip memorable. We will most certainly visit here again.
