Great hotel. Challenging check in
No issues with staff but check in is in different location. After finding arriving at hotel and then finding that out then turning around to find it, with two little children in tow, and not knowing area or parking rules, and parking sign in location being damaged, I found myself with a $40 parking ticket. Accom and location and parking was outstanding.

Was ok however check in at another Somerset property at pier and not informed until standing at front door trying to get in! View of side of warehouse, definitely can't see water

Choice stay in Hobart
Location is superb Service is excellent, especially the Housekeepig Nathan from housekeeping has good friendly disposition - would have done a better job in the reception.

Front desk service people weren't very nice. Hotel was pretty outdated, my shower door was missing a handle. In such a good location it's hard to complain.

Near luxury in the heart of History
Very comfortable, spacious and well appointed apartment. Safe parking outside. Easy walking to Hobart wharf areas and restaurants. Salamanca Market on your doorstep. Check in procedures need to be more clearly defined, needing to go to reception at a sister establishment on the other side of the docks. Otherwise, a pleasant two night stay.

Excellent location at Salamanca
Great location at Salamanca. Spacious and clean room. Hotel parking is not the best and it's a bit of a nuisance to have to check in at another location, even though it's close.

Great location!
We have stayed in Salamanca many times but we would return to this accommodation again. The room was exceptional, loads of space for the two of us and very comfortable.

Fantastic Location
I will begin this review with a very critical tip for anyone staying at this Hotel. Check-in for Somerset on Salamanca is at the Sister Hotel (Somerset on Pier - Approx. 10 min walk). We weren't informed of this upon booking this hotel through an online booking website. If you don't have a hire car, this is no issue as there is a complimentary shuttle bus in-between the two hotels. Overall, this hotel is extremely spacious, clean and very central to the Salamanca Markets (which is particularly convenient during the Taste of Tasmania festival). The rooms definitely are in need of a refurbishment sometime in the near future. Another piece of advice, parking is somewhat limited at this hotel. If you have a room, it is not guaranteed that you will have a parking space. However, during our 3 day stay, there was luckily always one space free.

Bed extremely uncomfortable. There was a loud buzzing noise that happened every 16 minutes and the drainage in the bathroom was terrible. Room was clean and balcony was lovely. Staff very friendly.

Very impressed with the size of the room and facilities. It was excellent value. Only negatives were the wifi code did not work and check in is at another property. However there was an intercom to talk with reception and they came around to check us in. I would stay here again.

Close to restaurants and boutique shops, 5 min walk to docks. Room was quietish no view from balcony

Walking distance to Ball and Chain restaurant...
Wonderful position to access Salamanca and all the restaurants in walking distance. The Ball and Chain restaurant which is just amazing, was just a few steps away.... I don't think there is a better steak anywhere...It was busy and packed by 8.00 pm on a Monday night... Say no more... The accomodation was comfortable, warm with microwave, plates etc.. We would definitely stay there again.. We did get a special deal that was available through hotels.com that made it very reasonable..

Great location
We had prepaid and were charged again on arrival at a cheaper rate. This extra charge was noticed at night audit and we were informed we would be refunded the amount charged upon arrival. Room is a great location. Could hear the rubbish bins being emptied early in the morning. We were in the disabled access room which created a wet and wild bathroom after a shower.

We enjoyed our stay in Hobart. The room was a good size and in good condition. It wasn't a massive problem checking in at the other Sommerset motel. We had parking every day and the location meant we could walk to restaurants every night. It was disappointing that cable tv had been removed in the time after we had booked. Room rates were very good and certainly made the stay very good value.

Water heater not working early in the cold morning. Quite a hassle even though the reception agreed to replace my room with another property. I will not stay at sommerset on Salamanca for future , the apartments on piers is better with good view , however they are pricier.

Stains and mould everywhere, horrible rooms.
Stayed in a 2 br executive room costing over $300 per night, so expected a reasonable room. Horrified to see huge stains all over the curtains in both the living room and the bedroom. The stains were so obvious that cleaners would have had to have just ignored them. Wen to have a shower and the roof was covered in black mould. This place was absolutely disgusting, especially for the price. The other huge complaint I have about this property is that they expect you to check in at "Salamanca on the Pier" which is miles away and then cart your luggage over to the hotel. I arrived at 10pm, so this was just a deal breaker. Do not stay here, it will only disappoint.

Great location. But being part of a bigger hotel there is no reception on site and when i needed to check anything didn't find all staff friendly...felt like we didn't really matter. Rooms poorly maintained for cleanliness did mention to reception, but a certain area was not cleaned. Big disappointment for us was the Hotel listing cable TV, but was not available.

Excellent hotel right at the end of Salamanca in the heart of Hobart. Rooms are very clean although some of the furniture is a little dated and worn. I would still not hesistate to stay again.

Great apartment - reception staff a bit rude
Only stayed two nights to look around Hobart and go to MONA - which is via ferry (MR-1) from adock a few minutes walk from the apartments. Great restaurants on Salamanca. My only issue was finding the place - and the hotel reception staff were none too helpful until i asked for a map - also reception in on another dock and they don't tell you you can drive in park and turn around on the dock so very confusing - again reception staff not forthcoming at all and quite sniffy.

The location was perfect, however that's were it stopped. Check in was difficult and confusing we had to assist other customers in finding their way to another location to check in. House keeping had to be called to correct the bed configuration, the bed was hard and very uncomfortable and the pillows were worse. No spare blanket or pillows in the room. The bathroom had black mould in the grout wasn't very well cleaned still had hair in the sink and on the floor. And the final inconvenience every two hours or so the air conditioning unit turned itself off and had to be re set BY US. Very average for the money.

Upon check in was told we could only have 1 key as they are short of keys (keys were credit card swipe type), there were 4 adults and one baby, had booked a 2 bedroom apartment so was needing at least 2 keys, was told we could only have the one as they had no more, then asked to speak to a manager as this was not good enough for how much we were paying, a spare key then miraculously appeared. Apartment was ok, taps leaked, ceiling lights in bedroom did not work, carpets very dirty, one year old was filthy within minutes of crawling on them, kitchen was missing simple things like chopping board, dishcloth and many other important utensils. Shower pressure was a drizzle. Toilet seat loose and kept falling off. Skirting boards rotten. Apartment not well maintained at all and would not stay there again.

Good Location -Nice Room.
The Room was clean and light,bed was comfortable-Only 1 Bedside Table light?.We didnt really spend much time in room as always out. Criticism if any was the street noise -it was annoying,especially with revellers coming home late from the Salamanca Bars and eateries understand that it was on a main arterial drive but double glazing?.The Curtains are inadequate for blocking out the light from outside.The outlook from room was lovely,but again the new building for UTAS and CSIRO blocked out the view- not shown on your website pics.Overall a great location close to the Salamanca Markets and Constitution Dock.Nice having a car park for our car, but again was a lottery fighting for parks - you did warn us though.

The room was nice and clean although the double bed was actually 2 single beds pushed together. Car Parking is limited. Check in/Check out staff are friendly and very helpful.
