“Best breakfast”

The hotel is basic but clean. Breakfast is served from the Highlands Coffee shop next door so the coffee and the food were the best we ate/drank. The location is perfect.

Area recommendations
Saigon is great place to explore. The Cu Chi tunnels trip is interesting as is a visit to the imperial palace.

“gong back again next year, cant wait”

This centrally located District 1 Hotel is fabulous, right in the midst of great restaurants and shopping. Its the 2nd time we have stayed in the hotel and as we were staying for 2 weeks this time, decided to get a Jnr Suite, with a separate lounge area it was ideal and we will book the same next year. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The morning after we arrived we realised that the fridge wasnt working, I rang reception and within 10 mins the fridge had been replaced, the aircon played up, but again after reporting it to reception it was fixed by the time we returned after shopping. Nothing was a trouble to them. HIghly recommended

Area recommendations
The neighbourhood of District ONe is the Backpackers end, where all the life is both day and nite. Large number of small cafes down the laneways with excellent value good fresh meals and cheap drinking. Dont be afraid to explore this area. We found a locals fruit and vege market and a locals supermarket within easy walking distance with far cheaper items including food and clothing than the more touristy markets towards the other end of town. Get cabs to different areas (very hot to walk long distances) walk around and get a cab back. We recommend Visisun which have a rank outside the Hotel, they are metered and very cheap.
When to go
We go in November (only time we can get holidays) which is the end of the wet season. Very hot and muggy but reasonably dry. We have heard that the better time is February.
Getting around
Use Vinisun taxis, there is a rank outside Liberty 3, they are metered and wont rip you off. A trip from the airport should cost no more than $8-10 even in peak time.
Shopping
Explore the area to find where the locals shop and save heaps. At the Ben Thanh markets shop around, the stores on the outside of themarket tend to be a bit cheaper than inside. If the staff are wearing a blue uniform they are govt. shops and no bargaining can be allowed, but they are often cheaper. Local Supermarkets sell bottled and canned alcohol very cheap.
Dining
Try the little cafes down the side streets and laneways for great fresh cheap food and drink. Lots of variety with Pizzas, Mexican Japanese etc as well as Vietnamese food available. Try a different cafe every night like we did. Then sit and relax and watch the world go by.
Other
There a Tourist Police in Vietnam they wear a dark green uniform. If you have any trouble for example a huge unwarranted taxi fare etc, get the taxi name and number if possible and report it to the hotel, they will call the tourist police to help. It is a criminal offence to rip of tourists and can result if a jail sentence.

“Fantastic Service”

The service at Liberty 3 is fantastic, they are happy to answer any questions and go out of their way to help make your stay a happy one. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Very centrally located to all sight seeing destinations and markets. Would choose Liberty 3 when we go back.

“Clean friendly hotel”

The staff were friendly and eager to help. The room was clean and comfortable. I did not take breakfast at the hotel so I am unable to comment on that matter. However, overall, I would recommend the hotel. The price of the hotel was quite reasonable too.

“Go back again anytime”

We had a great stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful, they were able to help us with any questions we had about things to do, places to eat and with accessing banks. The room had everything you could need was comfortable, clean and well serviced.

“Good Location”

Hotel is on the main street and can be a bit noisy until later in the night. Room was small and a bit tired looking but comfortable and clean. Large windows with door to small balcony so you can watch the early morning activity in the park opposite. Lots of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was served next door upstairs in the Highland Coffee, not a huge selection but adequate.

“Value far beyond expectation”

Porters open the door for you each and every time to get back to the hotel. Ladies at reception bend over back ward to help you find what ever you desire be it tours or accomodation in other areas of Vietnam. They filter honestly any offers you get on the street and no one looks for a tip. It is full american style service without anyone putting their hand out for cash. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. There is no resturant but right next door at the highland coffee shop you get great food and service at good prices. The bus station area is on the corner of the block. You can catch a bus anywhere in Vietnam at dirt cheap prices, get a suit tailor made for very little, have your teeth bleached by a dentist for next to nothing, have an hour massage for the price of a coffee back home or a beer for half the price of a bottle ofwater back home, all on the block that the hotel is situated on.

Ben Thahn markets 500 metres away. American war museum but don't open your wallet in front of a sit low rider he may snatch money out.
Getting around
Cabs are honest and cheap, the presidents owns the company so the drivers wouldn't dare rip you off.
