“A bit dated but can't beat the location”

Overall a great place to stay in Saigon. The hotel is a bit dated and there was no separate shower and tub like some of the other upscale places we stayed throughout Vietnam. This hotel does have a lot of history so if that's your thing then go with this place. The Park Hyatt across the street is gorgeous and a lot pricier.

“classic hotel in HCMC”

Caravelle is a big hotel that seemed to be pretty busy this month. Morning breakfast buffet was good with a great variety of foods - most items change daily. Too bad husband got bit by some bugs while eating breakfast (restaurant near front entrance so possibility of bugs going in and out or could be the carpet). Bed is huge! Bathroom not as much. Wifi was a little spotty in the room, but much stronger in the lobby. Complimentary use of fitness center, pool, and spa amenities (steam room, sauna, jacuzzi) if a hotel guest - extra services at a charge, of course. Had nails painted at the Spa - would not recommend as the coat would not dry for 24hrs, scratches all over. Bottle was a certain high-end brand, but I think they refill it with something else. Staff all speak English. They also exchange money at the front desk, if needed.

“Like an old friend”

We spent 2 nights at the Sheraton just behind the Caravelle as part of the tour we came to Saigon on, what a relief to get to the Caravelle. The Shereton is the stinkiest hotel I have ever stayed at. Do they go out of their way to get every smoker in Saigon to stay there.! anyway we had a lovely three night stay at the Caravelle, loved the club lounge, which was all we could handle after a day walking and touring in Saigon. the staff are great and the canapes are all we needed. Love this hotel, its like an old friend. The position is terrific the breakfast is good, the staff speak good english and it doesnt smell. Love this place. You will feel very comfortable here.

“Position, position, position”

Highly recommend this hotel. Very comfortable rooms, fantastic position, wonderful staff, fantastic gym facilities, nice pool area, great rooftop bar with great views, Easy access to the sights, cafes, market. Only negative is the prices charged at the poolside bar and rooftop bar. Would stay here again.

“Can't wait to go back”

The Caravelle is a great hotel to stay in and it is highly recommended. The staff, comfort and food are exceptional in quality and also in value. The hotel is getting a little tired and some minor updates will continue to create the best hotel experience in Ho Chi Minh. If you can, stay in the Signature rooms which give club access as this is fantastic service. Have stayed here the last three visits to Ho Chi Minh and can't wait to go back.

“Good hotel choice in Saigon”

The Caravelle was an excellent choice, one I would make again. We had problems with pre-purchased train tickets and the staff at the Caravelle was able to sort out the problem late at night by actually going to the station and re-purchasing tickets for us. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the roof top bar was great and the location was convenient to many shops and restaurants.

“Tenth time and counting”

I visit HCMC on a regular basis for business and having tried at least 5 other nearby hotels the Caravelle has become my favourite. I have now stayed there on ten separate occasions. The staff welcome me back and some even remember my name which is amazing with 6 months between some trips. For me it is worth paying extra for a Signature room and making use of the lounge between 17:30 and 19:30 when complimentary food and drink is served. Broadband and wireless internet are also free of charge in your room. There are more modern hotels but this one does it for me.

Excellent shopping opportunities at Saigon Tax Centre (includes useful small supermarket), Lucky Plaza (Russian Market) and Saigon Square for clothing, bags, souveniers etc.

Dining

For local dining try Zanzbar and The Refinery for excellent international food. Golden Elephant for Thai and Lemon Grass for authentic Vietnamese.
