“Good, but could be better.”
The location of the hotel is great as it was walking distance to a lot of tourist areas in the city. You staying fairly close to a shopping mall. There are many bars around the hotel as well if you want to go for an evening drink. The room was clean and comfortable. You have access to a safe to store your important belongings you don't want to carry around with you everyday. Washrooms are clean. There was a window in the suite but it was facing another building a few meters away. I stayed in the deluxe suite. Tour packages are available and through at frontdesk. After some broken english, you can still manage to book some great day excursion trips. I'm a fairly easy tennant I would say. I stay relatively tidy and am pretty low maintenance. I even declined the maid service one day when I happened to still be in the room. The young lady seemed so happy that she could skip mine. I would of given the hotel a better service rating if not during check out they had someone check the room and they reported back I consumed their beverages and printed me a bill. This was not the case of course. With the language barrier and me running late for my flight, I paid the bill and moved on instead of battling it out. 21 USD is not that much to fight over, but just the principle of it was not right. I read somewhere prior to booking, that this happened to someone else as well. The sour taste left at the end doesn't warrant me to return. I'll try much luck elsewhere.
“Would go back to stay”
The hotel was great. It was recommended to me from a friend and met my expectations. The hotel was charming and comfortable. Service was excellent and timely. I will always try to stay at this hotel when in Saigon.
“Worth the money”
The service was good. The room was spacious and had a great view. Unfortunately the windows did not close fully which can be annoying considering the noise from the streets. The doors cannot be closed by the handle so in the morning one gets woken up by slamming doors. Any queries(e.g. shower not working) were handled immediately and successfully. For those who like fruits the breakfast menu has lots of it. I personally didn't like the Vietnamese coffee and would have wished they'd had some Italian coffee. But you can get anywhere in the streets. The breakfast is up on the 11th floor with a nice panorama view. I reckon one can even sit outside on the veranda I didn't ask. All in all a nice place to stay if you have the room I had. However there are rooms where you stare at the other building's wall and it is rather dark in the room.
“Central location, courteous staff, nice rooms”
The hotel was fairly centrally located, just a few minutes walk from the Opera House, but on a relatively quiet street. The staff were courteous and friendly. The room itself, while smallish, had nice decor and was impeccably clean. Wireless internet was a big plus. Pretty extensive breakfast buffet, although food quality was mediocre (except for the freshly-prepared omellette!) The only real downside was that the hotel lobby had a weird kind of feel to it, with a bit of a haphazard design.
“Asian Ruby 1 Saigon Dec 2010”
Staff were great and eager to help. The room was great with a safe, a mini bar and a great bed. Breakfast was simple but adequate and the location is very central. Western travellers should be aware that like a lot of areas in Vietnam english is limited so try to pick up a few key phrases ..... the locals are very patient and love to play charades.
“Excellent hotel. Would highly recommend”
Asian Ruby is in the centre of Saigon. It is very close to great shopping and many of the attractions within the city. Restaurants of many varieties were within one city block. No need to travel very far at all. The Asian Ruby assisted with day tours efficiently with reputable tour guides with strong english. This assisted us in a very pleasant experience. Taxis access was abundant and very easy to obtain at any hour. The rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable. The laundry service was impecable. Highly recommend the quality accommodation at Asian Ruby.
“small but cozy”
Small but cozy. Complementary breakfast is also O.K.
“OK to stay for a short term”
The hotel is listed as a 3-star hotel on the internet. However, it is not really qualified for a 3-star. Although the hotel staff are friendly and the main Asian Ruby hotel is in good location, the room is tiny and lacks of ammenities such as no clock in room. However, the hotel provides free internet access to guests, which is nice. The daily buffet breakfast is repeatly same food, mostly asian's. Overall, t's a bit pricey to stay for more than a week compared to the hotel's qualities.
“Good but could do better”
The Expedia description promised a balcony, the room didn't even have a window, this is not uncommon in Vietnam, it was too humid to sit out and the upside was there was no traffic noise, quite an achievement in HCMC. Breakfast was good with some unusual items such as Pork Porrage, great view from breakfast restaurant in the 11th floor. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Just one thing, why provide kettle and cups & saucers in the room but no tea, coffee, milk etc. I never did get to the bottom of that one.
“Would definitely stay there again.”
Very good location, close to opera house etc but quiet and out of the noisy areas. Staff very attentive and room was spotlessly clean, and a good size. Breakfast buffet selection also good.
