I stay here very often because my family live close by. The hotel is very comfortable, clean, good wine selection (!), lovely staff and Bussum is a very safe place - not unimportant when you are a single lady traveller. The newly renovated rooms are my least favourite as I don't think that in most areas they are an improvement. The new armchair (only one left of the two) looks great but is uncomfortable, and the tables and nightstands look cheap and are rickety. Lighting is a lot less cosy than it used to be. The bathroom has improved, although the make-up mirror is no longer lighted and is therefore useless. As the minibar has been moved into the main wardrobe, there is hardly any shelving space left. The lino floor is an improvement, although I wonder whether they get mopped every day...
So I book the unrenovated rooms instead, which are much more comfortable and cosy.
A huge minus to me are the mattresses which are rock hard. Some people will get a good night's sleep on them, I'm sure, but I'm not one of them.
