“Not five star service”
Hotel is very nice and pleasant – beautiful grounds, although it is vast as you see from driving into the car park trying to get a parking space and then the long hike to the room from reception! When we checked in, we tried to get a table for dinner (at any of its restaurants) but later received a call saying the earliest we could be seated was 9.30 due to it being busy with external guests and no priority is given to hotel guests – it is not the response you expect from a five star hotel. When we mentioned this on check-out, the reception staff had no interest and not even an apology. Having said that, the spa area is very luxurious and the rooms are very comfortable. The hire of bikes around the grounds is a nice touch. The hotel classifies itself as five stars and prices itself at over five stars but lacks the service that you expect. There are other hotels in the area which are far superior and I would recommend them over The Grove.
