“Better than expected”
Lovely staff, food was good value and well presented. Shower wall needed a clean and the hose leading to the shower head was a bit leaky. Overall though good value- I didn't realise breakfast was included in the room rate so that was a pleasent suprise. I had a cold at the time of visit so didn't get to explore the pool/gym. Easy to park car. Bit concerned the windows were a bit flimsy, and as a female staying alone was suprised to be at the front on the ground floor. Would definitley stay again, but not first choice.
“Never again”
Worst place we've stayed in 40 years of travel in England. Small, dark, dirty room in older part with frequent noise from trains right behind hotel. Bedspread and blanket old and stained. Sheet had old blood stain. Bed wasold and uncomfortable. Had to get spare pillows from cupboard to lie on to try and pad the springs. Bathroom, small with mold around bath etc. Tiny semicircular sink. Couldn't even brush teeth properly! Long walk to station, restaurants and attractions. Parking in rear good and breakfast very good.
“Great Budget Hotel”
Some parts of the Hotel still require modernising, but they are clean and the remainder of the hotel that has been refurbished is excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and the reception team first class. Facilities ie Pool and Gym superb
“Not a "North American Experience"”
The hotel does not provide the comfort level of a Holiday Inn. The room was plain, clean and "very functional". The en suite bathroom was not up to North American standards for a hotel in the same category. The hotel is a little poky. It is funny to walk along a corridor and have the lights activated by movement! The dining room made claims to being a bit grander than it actually was. The Food was excellent and the fixed price menu good value by English standards. The bar was well stocked. The buffet breakfast was nothing short of excellent, but more expensive than our dinner! That was an absolute first. There was excellent wifi service at a cost. Nice swimming pool and fitness room. Very nice location 15 minutes walk from the cathedral in downtown St. Albans or a reasonable enough taxi fare.
“Will stay again”
Close to town center, good meal, pleasant and helpful staff.
“Inexpensive and sufficient car parking space”
This hotel is not high end, or particularly modern. But it's clean, and enough car parking spaces for all its guests (more than can be said for the St Albans Comfort hotel). In the summer the rooms overheat and no fans are provided. But I do return here week after week because it's inexpensive and good enough. The restaurant food is nice enough - but I've been eating there for a month, and they've not yet changed the menu.
“Du n'importe quoi cet hotel”
Bonjou Je ne sais pas pour les autres chambres ... mais la 204 où j'ai passé 5 nuits ! il y avait une toile d'araignée au plafond, un chasse d'eau qui fonctionne pas, pas de brosse des toilettes, des trains à moins de 50 metres qui passent toutes le 5 mn ... bref je le conseille à personne !!!
