“Not my favourite Hilton Experience”
The hotel was extremely noisy. We chose a bad time of year due to the number of wedding parties in the hotel. The food in the restaurant was ok, but the hot food was cold. I would not recommend this hotel, especially if it is a peaceful weekend you are hoping for. The staff were helpful and friendly enough.
“Good hotel, brilliant breakfast, bathroom a bit dated, no free wifi”
You need a car for this hotel but I got a really good deal -- though they put me at the very back of the hotel which was a long walk to breakfast. The room was fine, not enough lighting for my taste and the bathroom showed its age a bit. Having just spent a fortnight in Spain in 3* hotels all with free wifi, it was a bit disconcerting that there was only wired internet in the room (no good for the iPhone) and wifi in only some parts of the hotel -- and you had to pay a minor fortune for it. (I declined.) Was annoyed that I had forgotten a swimsuit so wasn't able to test the swimming pool. I'd go back again if it was as good a deal as I got this time. Wouldn't pay the normal price though.
“Fantastic service but room could do with a lick of paint”
Hiltons are always reliable as a good place to stay, and this hotel is no exception. The service was superb, especially the restaurant staff who went out of their way to help and be friendly. When my room service meal was late, I was given an apology and a free meal, without even having to raise it, and the reception staff also helped when I asked to extend my stay. The only negative aspect was the condition of the room, which while comfortable enough, could do with new wall paper and a lick of paint. Having said that, I would happily stay there again, given the reasonable rate and the excellent service.
“Not what I would expect for a supposed 4*”
The hotel was not what I would expect from a large chain and not of the standard it sell itself to be. I stayed for 4 nights. In this time a leak had obviously occurred over the corridor in a ceiling, the ceiling was stripped back and an old towel wrapped around the leaking pipe - this was not fixed during my stay - I would have thoght this should have been done in 2 days max. Walls were discoloured as if fire extinguishers had been mounted there for long periods and general dirt and grime on all corridor door handles remained for the period of my stay. I washed my hands upon entering my room and when reaching my destinations when leaving the hotel. The room itself while not dirty on first glance had dirty finger prints all over lightswitches as you entered the room, water glasses were not clean, just returned to the allocated position by the TV each day. The curtains in the room were filthy and the carpets heavily stained.
“Hilton Quality ( except in summer ! )”
Overall, very pleased with the hotel. Reception, very efficient and friendly, breakfasts and service in restaurant excellent, pool and gym, typical for hotel, but ok. Bedroom more than adequate, only complaint,is that at time of our visit, the weather was hot. With no air conditioning in bedroom, and only two small windows, the room and especially the bathroom, were far too warm. Although a small fan was provided, this only managed to blow the warm air around. Air conditioning is available in the public rooms, but not in the bedrooms. Nevertheless, I would certainly recommend the hotel, and would have no hesitation returning again, should the need arise.
