short pleasant stay

Posted 22-Apr-2014
Pros: quitness in and outside, clean, friendly staff, super breakfast
Cons: more light in the bathroom
warm welcome by friendly staff, stayed in spacy room, everything being clean, the quitness everywhere in this hotel was strikening : no noises of running water or slamming doors or tv sets, , had a comfortable bed, and an excellent breakfast

Internet / Wifi

Posted 21-Apr-2014
Pros: -
Cons: Free wifi and make it clear the charging method.
Location: fine
There was a confusion of Internet / wifi charge. I thought there was FREE wifi facilities by registration to BT Open. However, I ended up being charged with £29.95. It is really a big draw back. I will warn my fellow friend about this. By the way, even charging for the of wifi, but £29.95 for two days are really excessive!!! this is a free or cheap wifi age. In my view, this hotel is really out of date.

Great hotel for a short stay.

Posted 06-Feb-2014
Pros: Location was perfect for what we wanted.
Location: Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studios London (a short train/tube trip away) Plenty of bars/restaurants in Watford centre
We stayed here to go to Warner Brothers Harry Potter studios & it was a great location only about 10-15mins away by car. Hotel is located right next to a Toby Carvery breakfast it better bought here (less than £5) than in the hotel (£15) & it was a handy place to go for a quick evening meal after a long drive down to Watford. We also went into London on the train & again train station was close by with parking facilities.

Review

Marked down as lock missing on bathroom door, floor dirty and bed had a poor quality topper. You could not cuddle up because of gap in the middle of the mattress. Breakfast was lovely as were the staff.

Horrendous outdated hotel in a poor state

Posted 04-Nov-2013
Pros: NOTHING!
Cons: Clean rooms, a lick of paint, train duty manager in customer service.
We were booked into a junior suite. When we arrived we realised that they had put us into a smoking room which smelt awful. I have smoked for 22 years and never smelt anything like it. When we discussed this with the manager his response was, and I quote "there is nothing I can do about it, all the rooms smell like that". Eventually we had to accept being downgraded to a double room which was on par if not worse than a premier inn! Generally the hotel is old, tired and very outdated. This is my second bad experience in a Hilton hotel in as many weeks and will never book with them again. They have gone totally down hill and seem to be trading on their name.

Not a 4 star hotel

Posted 10-Oct-2013
The room was dated and had stains on the floor. The staff were friendly but the general standard of the hotel was more 3 star than 4 star.

Cons: There should definitely be airconditioning in ALL the rooms. It would also have been nice to have a small minibar type fridge in the room.
We visit England regularly to spend time with family in the Noarth London area. In the past few years, we have stayed in Elstree Village Hotel (which is in the same area), however we decided to look for a different hotel because we found the Village too noisy and rooms too small for a long term stay (2 weeks). We decided to try the Hilton Watford after determining that the rooms are spacious and modern, and we were impressed by the very positive feedback of previous guests that we found on the internet. We were not disappointed. Our room was spacious, clean and well maintained. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and efficient, particularly the breakfast staff who were always cheery and welcoming. The buffet choice at breakfast is excellent, varied and very fresh, and provided a great start to the day!
