"Excellent location, fantastic beach, great staff!"
I have stayed in Golden Beach Hotel during my road trip in Crete. The location is just perfect in the heart of Hersonissos just a few mins walk from all restaurants and bars (very quiet though...) whilst the Hotel has recently been totally refurbished.
The staff is very friendly and the design of the hotel fantastic (great lobby and seating area!) with nice rooms. The Hotel is located on a very nice sandy beach (less than 10 meters away from the hotel with beach beds and umbrellas.
The bar was nice (try the cocktails!) and the food too.
Hotspot is the unlimited sea view from the roof (there is a small swimming pool too).
Its a typical all inclusive hotel.. The food is not tasty as usual. The staff were pleasant but drinks are limited and low quality. Time duration of lunch and dinner are too short and the staff are very strict to make you obey the rules. But in general staying is average. Seashore is not good. Swimming pools are closing at 18:00 hrs. It is too short, which is not acceptable in summer vacation.

We stayed here for 12 nights from 12 July 2015 and the hotel was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The whole hotel including our room was extremely clean, rooms cleaned daily. There are two pools, atmosphere around them was brilliant, music playing and the staff created a buzz everyday. The newer sunbeds are so comfortable, and there was no mad rush in the mornings to get these sunbeds either. We stayed on a breakfast only basis, the breakfast was lovely, plenty to choose from. The location of the hotel was perfect. It was just tucked round the corner from the main Hersonissos strip but perfect to get away from the buzzy strip if you want to. The beach is about a 2 min walk if that. The main strip is about 5 minutes away. The only downside to the hotel was their wifi. You have to pay 18 Euros per week per device for wifi and it wasn't that great. We could barely get the wifi in the room despite them saying that it was accessible throughout the hotel. The staff were the best staff I have come across. They literally cannot do enough for you. Especially Aria and Georgia who worked in the pool bar. We ate there for lunch every day and they always made us laugh and very welcome. They are such lovely people. The food at lunch was awesome and the service even better! We stayed for a wedding anniversary celebration and they gave us a room with the best views and a bottle of wine to celebrate. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. :)

This is a very nice, well run hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive to the needs of guests. The location offers a very nice view and there are many grocery and eating options in the little village within a 5 minute walk. Walking down into town (waterfront, beach, more shops, buses to other cities) is fine but the walk back up the hill is not really feasible for most people. Unfortunately there is no public transport up the hill from the town. Taxis are 6 or 7 euros. A car rental is really helpful to have if staying here and you want to get out and see more of the island - at least for part of your stay.
Great views of the sea, very helpful staff who will point you to some great spots that are not listed in the normal tourist guides, nice pool, and convenient location out of the main town of Heraklion as it's about 20 mins away from the city.
A large, popular resort, Chersonissos lies 27 km from Heraklion. It offers sandy beaches with water sports facilities, and a buzzing nightlife with English-style pubs, cocktail bars, and nightclubs. There's plenty for children, including go-karts and a miniature train that runs along the seafront. The Star Beach complex combines a beach, water park and spa.
