“Beachfront, away from the city”

Recently renovated, modern hotel. Lovely pools, restaurant, beach just in front, spectacular sunsets! Our room was small, with a balcony but no view, (but we got a great price through Expedia - surely the rooms with views are much more expensive!) Friendly, helpful staff. No surprises with price or any extra charges.

Area recommendations
Knossos is a very interesting place to visit, and easy (and inexpensive) to get to by bus from Heraklion.
Getting there
Our biggest challenge was getting there - hotel is located about 20 minutes down the highway from Heraklion - arriving by car, or taxi (though expensive), would be the easiest way, especially the first time. Buses are inexpensive but getting off at the right stop, and then finding the hotel the first time was a challenge. About a 20 minute walk from bus stop to hotel, depending on temperature and amount of luggage. Lack of signs. If arriving at night, taxi is recommended.
Dining
Very nice buffet breakfast at restaurant overlooking the sea - perfect way to start the day! Besides the one very nice hotel restaurant, there are various other places to eat and drink within walking distance from the hotel which are worth trying. We found the local people very friendly, and the prices reasonable.
