Staff were extra gracious and helpful. Decor is lovely and room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was truly outstanding, so many choices and everything was delicious. It was an extra perk to be able to walk to the Archaeological Museum nearby.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful. We were also pleased to discover that we could walk to museums, restaurants, and the bus stop from the hotel. Finally, it was among one of the best hotel breakfasts that I have ever seen!

Nice hotel, but one cautionary note
The hotel and staff are excellent. The one drawback of the hotel is it’s location. In order to get to the shops and restaurants in the city core, you must first navigate 3 or 4 blocks that are not pedestrian friendly. The streets are narrow, dark and very run down. It did not feel safe at night. However, nothing bad occurred on our walks.

I chose this property because it was located only minutes walk from the central bus station, 10-15 mins away from the airport by car, and 10-15 mins to anywhere in the old town. The port and castle is practically outside your window. Should note that for €1.50, it’s 20 mins from the bus stop right behind the hotel to get to Knossos Palace! The hotel has a cool history but it is old and tired. The rooms are sufficient but dark, despite two windows. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the rooms very quiet, which I appreciated. Korres’ amenities was a nice touch. There is a cafe on site, but menu was limited and over priced. Unfortunately I didn’t have the opportunity to visit the breakfast buffet, but it looked generous with lots of options. There were 1-2 friendly folks at reception/front desk, but I have to admit overall the staff here was less friendly and helpful than all the other places I’ve stayed in Greece.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful and luxurious! We had a fantastic view of the port and city lights from our sea side suite, and the room was very spacious and beautifully decorated, including deep blue velvet upholstery and curtains. The buffet breakfast which was included was the best buffet breakfast we have ever experienced. The food was delicious and the presentation (and smells) were divine! The hotel was very conveniently located, within walking distance of the port, shops and dining. The only downside was that when the ferry came in at night, you could hear the traffic from our room, but that was also part of the convenient location. I would definitely recommend it!

This is the best hotel we have stayed in during our nine week tour of Europe. The staff were so helpful when looking for a place to watch the rugby. They were always smiling and friendly when we passed them. Even the cleaning staff smiled and said hello. The breakfast was phenomenal and the bed huge! Awesome all round!

The GDM Megaron is truly exceptional. If you are coming by Ferry to Heraklion, it is just a 10 minute walk from the dock. It is a modern hotel with great views and an incredible breakfast buffet. The hotel offers free parking as well and several restaurants (including the exceptional Peskesi - make sure you get reservations) and the main museum are all within walking distance. The airport is close by too for rental car pickups - there are local rental just around the corner as well.

We stayed here twice during our visit to Crete and it was fantastic! This hotel really made our stay amazing, highly recommend it. Our highlights were the friendly and helpful staff and all the little details accommodated for in our room. I have never been so excited for a hotel breakfast though!!! Omg I still think about it several months on. There were SO many choices, both traditional Cretan cuisine and home comforts.

5-star but not that interesting
Our suite was cavernous and lacking in charm. There was no seating on the balconies (they were rather narrow). Contrary to other reviews we found the roof-top bar/restaurant utterly boring (the pool area looked fun, however)and were glad to get out to eat locally - there's no shortage of delightful other places within a few blocks. The breakfast buffet is spectacular and they have someone to explain all the exotic dishes. This hotel is very well run and proper. It felt like the sort of place frequented by affluent older guests,

Fabulous hotel near the port
Such a lovely hotel. It’s an historic property and the location is perfection of you’re taking a ferry or arriving at the port. It even has an elevator that takes you to the lower level of the road. I rolled my bags to and from the port in 15 minutes. So easy, the nicest check in staff and gorgeous rooms. It’s better than some 5 star hotels in Paris! The breakfast is the best I’ve had anywhere in Greece and they are helpful describing all the cakes abd Cretan specialities. The rooms are spacious and gorgeous and great bathrooms.

This is such a gorgeous hotel! And it’s ten minutes from the airport and a quick walk to the amazing archeological museum and restaurants. The restaurants are fantastic and the roof top pool is gorgeous.

Historic property very clean . Conveniently located not far from Bus Depot where we arrived from Chania and later used to get to Palace of Knossos and Agios Nicholas . The negative of this hotel was that there was no lobby only a small desk area where you checked in . Also clients that booked directly with the hotel where given s welcome drink voucher as we were not . I paid for a suite and felt like a second glass guest . They were very discreet about it but I overheard the conversation with the other guests checking in .

An excellent property with a beautiful rooftop pool and lounge area. The service was impeccable. One of the last hotels that offer evening turn down service. The staff was very attentive, even arranging a to go breakfast for us on the morning of our early departure. The morning breakfasts were exquisite. An incredible hotel, and stay.

We stayed for just one night after we flew into heraklion and we're catching a ferry to santorini. The hotel team were just amazing, so helpful and genuinely friendly. The hotel was very convenient location for the ferry port and only a short walk into town. The room was beautiful and clean. Try to get a sea view
