Lovely Area

Posted 04-Sep-2014
Pros: Great location next to the beach, Hotel decoration beautifully done. hotel staff very helpfully and friendly Evening entertainment venue great.
Cons: Full length mirror would be of great benefit. Tuna & Ham available in main restaurant at lunch time alternative to hot food Dive Centre is Useless
Location: Spinalonga trip was fantastic
Just back from 10 night stay at this resort and we had a lovely time, Stayed in the Maris building near the main restaurant with a sea view room on the second floor. Rooms are basic but clean with very good air conditioning, some minor faults but soon rectified by the management team. Sun beds get reserved early despite told what they say or you read. We contacted dive centre upon arrival to arrange a specific dive and he said he would be in touch, as the days past he eventually told us a day it would happen and said he would let us know the details and put it under our rooms, guess what not information and when asked him on the day he said no the weather was to bad, this is despite no wind and in the thirties bright sunshine. Utter rubbish and when told him this had upset us he said go away and enjoy your holiday and leave me alone, as he also said he does not work for dive centre but just helps them out yet in uniform and at a stand advertising? Etc. e-mail to complain etc and no answers to date. We was going to pay 100 euro each but no dive and very disappointed my son is a scuba diving instructor he was furious at this padi dive centre and it should be avoided at all cost. Let's the hotel name down badly. Entertainment team work very hard and try best but all shows are mimed and can get a bit boring however it is at a great venue and some shows are ok to good. They odd visiting acts would be a great addition to help entertainment team as was done on Greek night.

Great Family experience

Posted 17-Jul-2014
Pros: Friendly & helpfull staff, good food, a low stress experience
Cons: More variety in the various restaurants, last year the Italian was more al a carte this year it was a buffet style.
Location: Water park it execellent albeit a tad expensive costing 100 Euro for the family to travel to and enter and food and drinks inside were pricey.
It was our 2nd year at the Creta Maris, we have twin 7 yr olds who love the setup at the hotel, with a selection of pools and the beach.

Great resort hotel with a lovely beach.

Posted 16-Jul-2014
Pros: Creta Maris sets a welcome balance between affordability and quality services for family minded travellers with good activities for young and adult.
Cons: Inclusive offer is good value however certain services like the gym are not included. The alcohol served within the inclusive offer is poor quality.
Location: The resort offers nearly everything you need but Knossos, and great ancient site, is only an easy bus trip away.
Travelling with two kids through Greece Creta Maris was a great place to pause from visiting all the ancient sites and crazy tourist spots to just enjoy the sun and sea of Crete. The all inclusive experience takes the task of searching for lunch and dinner spots away and allows you to just enjoy the beach resort environment. Multiple pools and a lovely beach complete with bar service is a great experience. Kids can roam safely and securely around the resort and it is generally very multicultural and non ageist which is great.

Fantastic hotel

Posted 06-May-2014
Pros: Staff, food, beach
Cons: Sunbed towel could be collected after 6pm, most people were still sitting out after 7pm but were left with wet towels. More car parking.
Location: Walk through around the roads from the hotel explore. Worth hiring a car and venturing around the Island.
Stayed in the hotel for 2 weeks - was fantastic place. The hotel was brilliant, clean, open but had plenty of character. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Food was lovely and plenty of choice for everyone. We went early in the season (hotel had only opened the week before) so only the Cosmos Restaurant was open and Pithos A La Carte (book via hotel WiFi connection page 24 hours beforehand). Food from both is different but lovely. Almyra opened for the Easter weekend and stayed open during the day. Rooms are spacious and good air conditioning / heating system. Beach towels left in the room for your first day then you switch them between 16:00 - 18:00. The beach is lovely and the beach has it's own sunbeds. The water quality is fantastic, so if you like snorkelling you'll see a lot. I'd wear shoes in the water as it's rocky in places! Swimming pools are large and deep and plenty of sunbeds around them. The bar is placed for use by pool and beach which is handy. Plenty of car hire companies in the town, plus Budget have a representative in the hotel Foyer - all the same price. We used Budget as they can park in the Hotel car park and it was convenient. 4 century church near the fitness centre, lovely Easter services - well worth going to join in if there over the Easter weekend.

Excellent facility with beach and pools very close

Very good deal at start of season. Lots of pools and restaurants although given low occupancy not all open. Excellent value for money. First time we have done all-inclusive and it was a good experience.

Lovely hotel.

Got this for a work trip (oh the hardship...) on Expedia at a very good price (less than 80 quid per night all inclusive). The hotel is enormous, has about six pools and as many restaurants and bars. It's a short walk to the beach (a few steps) and a few hundred yards to the nearest shops, bus stops to Heraklion etc. Just a few wee things prevented an across the board 5/5. There was no list of restaurant/bar opening times (and it seemed to be a bit random!) and the d├ęcor was a bit tired in places. Neither aspect would stop you having an awesome relaxing break here. I would really like to come back for a holiday!!

Excellent customer service.

Posted 14-Oct-2013
We stayed at the end of the season but there was no sense of winding down. The staff and management are superb, friendly, helpful and very hardworking. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the food was plentiful and good quality. There are two reasons for not giving full marks for facilities. Firstly, the indoor pool had closed down. The only indoor pool was on the adjoining site in the gym, for which there was an additional charge, and did not look very inviting. Secondly it was only possible to breakfast outdoors at the late breakfast restaurant as there was no outside seating at the main restaurant.

Nice Hotel Great Location

Posted 01-Oct-2013
Pros: The location, the beach, the pools, the staff.
Cons: The beds were very hard and uncomfortable in the bungalow. They need new ones.
Location: The port is just down the street, you can rent your own boat, go on a boat trip, take an open train tour or just walk up and down the street.
The hotel and facilities were beautiful. The staff was nice and helpful. We stayed in a bungalow and the bed was hard as a rock. The good restaurants are reservation only a day a head of time. That was a pain since we arrived in the afternoon and could not get a reservation. The buffet was not very good. The food in the local restaurants was amazing and not expensive, so we went out for dinner a number of times. There was a tremendous amount of smoking going on and there did not appear to be any nonsmoking areas, which was a problem for me.
