“Good value”
The hotel is outside the city walls so that there is a bit of a walk to get into the center of things. It is an older property kept well but showing the wear and tear. The breakfast on the top terrace is excellent as well as any other food we had there and the personnel is very help- ful and friendly. It's a very good value for the money and we would stay there again.
“Would not stay there again”
Very basic hotel in a very busy and noisy part of Iraklion. Handy though, as it was opposite a taxi rank and the bus station. Booked it because it said it was close to the airport, it wasn't that close, 20 minute drive away.
“Disappointing”
Cramped room, not all too clean, hotel staff not very knowledgable although quite friendly. Best feature was restaurant on top floor w/ nice view and decent view. The area was loud and trafficky and not in the location indicated on the map. Outside of the old Venetian walls and to the west more.
“Decent hotel”
Good price for the hotel during the low season. Reasonable walking distance to the town centre of Heraklion and it felt like a safe location. The room was fairly basic but clean however being on the corner of a busy intersection, it was fairly load at night with lots of street noise. Bring ear plugs. The bed was pretty old though and weren't too comfortable. The breakfast buffet was great with a decent view of the water from the balcony and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall, I'd stay again.
“Nice place”
We liked the hotel and staff. The restaurant was quite good. The room was large enough, but like many European hotels, it was almost impossible to read in it. We had to go down to the lounge to read. Unfortunately the hotel is not close to any restaurants other than a pizza place, a loud, smokey, fast food, and one excellent gyros/souvlkai restaurant.

situation géographique pratique mais bruyante, chambre très décevante mais personnel sympathique, restauration très correcte. rideaux très sales, peinture écaillée, un soir sans serviette de bain,des travaux sur la façade donc un ouvrier le matin sur le balcon!! le personnel est très serviable, le patron beaucoup moins. situé à un carrefour,cet hotel est très bruyant jusqu'à 1h du matin et dès 8h.
“Stopp over in Heraklion”
Wir suchten für eine Übernachtung in Heraklion ein günstig, zentralgelegenes Hotel. Das haben wir im Hotel Castillo gefunden. Es ist Zentral, die Zimmer einfach aber sauber, ein schönes Frühstücksbuffet auf der wunderschönen Dachterrasse mit Blick über die Hausdächer direkt aufs Meer. Auch für den Sonnenuntergang empfehlenswert. Eher laut, da Hotel an Kreuzung grenzt. Für 1/2 Nächte sehr empfehlenswert. Hilfsbereites und kompetentes Personal. Sprachen sogar deutsch oder ein gutes englisch.
